based on that drawing I imagine Toby has a metabolism of a rock. because with a mouth that small compared to that body mass, otherwise he'd have to be eating like a wood chipper if he was an active feller, wouldn't he?

Synapsids were pre-mammals weren’t they? More related to mammals than the dinos that mostly replaced them e: https://youtu.be/SR3OOP9mImI https://youtu.be/w6YX8AWXrCA thanks quarantine

the head and neck arrangement reminds me of some of those giant tortoises just the size of the head compared to the body and legs, and how there's that big area under the neck but the Cotylorhynchus has an even shorter neck and also no shell obviously

While we're talking about things with sails, Spinosaurus is now aquatic. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2020/04/spinosaurus-graphic-reconstructing-gigantic-aquatic-predator/ You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like. Actually you should like it, it's really really weird and awesome.

That low-rent dino who can't even make up his mind whether to be a land animal or a water animal only got to exist at all because dimetrodon was already extinct millions of years by then. Peak performance had already happened. He's not even the best dino ankylosaurus or the best water-based hunter (sharks were there before, during, and after).

There are an assload of different Dimetrodons. That's not even all of them. There are currently 13 recognized species. Some of them are eating each other. That's not very nice.
