Hah. I'm not much on sports, but the longhorns definitely add an Austin vibe. :v: They'd work for someone in Ft Worth too, thanks to the Ft Worth stockyards - they do two cattle drives a day just outside of downtown, usually longhorns.

When I saw the address on the tape, it gave me a big "how the hell did he manage to find a box from someone so close?!". That's not really a big city (56k ppl), nor is the one I'm in (77k?) - and they're further out of town.

Happy Holidays!

(gently caress, I still need to finish up my gift... :sigh: at least part 1 is sent, so if someone in here has a random book show up from a book store, sorry, I couldn't find a way to add a note to say there's more coming)

Got mine out this morning. Had to reopen it and edit the note as the last item I had given up on arrived late last night.

Suspicious package recently arrived. Will update later or tomorrow morning.

Got a sweet gift today from the one and only Mr. Wiggles.

Mush appreciated! I will install the valve stems promptly. The seeds will be munched accordingly. They bring back memories of deployments and trying to stay awake. My son and I will have a blast building the Quattro.

Thanks again Mr. Wiggles.

P.S. My gift is good to go out tomorrow morning. Just hope the cross country shipping doesn't end in disaster.

Yeah, the rings. You said you had a 98 jetta, which i'm told has notoriously bad cupholders.

Hope they help, or did I miss the mark? There should also be non printed stuff in there.

 ah. Ok I was trying to figure out how the keychain combined with the rings.

My Jetta is a late MK3, it's the MK4s that have those awful cupholders. Mine has a pair in the lower console in front, which aren't big enough for anything useful. The MK4 cupholders also hold your drink in front of the HVAC vents, which led to me getting a literal first degree burn on my lip one day. Mostly empty can of soda + full blast heat... That sucked.

Regardless, thanks!

The haul:

mid-length GearWrench 10mm in 3/8" drive, flex 10mm in 1/4" drive, a sleeve of cheap electrical tape, Jetta keychain, cupholder rings, license plate hardware, a keyring from an old-rear end radio station (Orlando's oldest), and a pair of spring clamp pliers.

The tape is so old, it's still got "General Signal" branding

The 10mm's are greatly appreciated, especially the mid-length. Those hose clamp pliers are awesome, and hopefully will save me from smashed fingers and lost spring clips!

Oh, I included an old wal-mart receipt! I have no idea what that is except that it must have been in my old stash of grocery bags that I used as packing material.

The electrical tape and the 58 WDBO keychains are courtesy of my new house's previous owner.

I used to go through 200-300 rolls a year. I would buy cases of the sleeves of 3M Tartan 1710 tape from Home Depot. Like, multiple 100-roll cases. These days, my usage is a lot lower, and I've refined my taste to only Scotch 33 or 88, plus colored 35.

A mysterious package closed with gaffer tape arrived last evening

Greeted by this upon opening the box

Spread out - the Korean milk candies are really weird, borderline good. That little stream light is going to be super handy around the garage. I already put it to work this morning, super bright yet light enough to hold in your teeth. Stickers are always appreciated and the Wife already grabbed one for her laptop. Speedway schedule is pretty neat and I'm always surprised by how many events they run through those places during the season. It's really weird, we were talking about furniture polish the other day but had stopped short of ordering anything.

A hand written note

Beneath that was more goodies

What is this piston out of? I haven't compared it to the one I got a couple years ago from AI:SS but I think it's similar in size. This cider looks really good and we'll be enjoying it tonight while watching Christmas movies. Haven't had a good cider in quite a while so I'm really looking forward to it.

More stickers for the sticker wall and a handle to....something?

Thank you Raluek, Merry Christmas!

The furniture polish was in a random box of crap (I think it was a BoC from Woot, actually) so I have no idea if it's good or even functional, but like the note says, I figure you can throw it out as easily as I can if it turns out to be junk. The handle I bought for some fraction of a dollar at a surplus store, thinking it might fit my angle grinder, but the thread was wrong. Maybe you'll find a use for it.

Figures that Boaz had the same idea as me, haha. The piston is indeed from a SBC, the 350 I swapped into my car in the cul de sac behind my uncle's house, 700 miles from home. Let it be a reminder not to trust random assholes on Craigslist. That motor was total junk, the rods were mismatched and it was probably making 14:1 compression due to the tiny chambered heads on it. It got me home, but only just barely.

Anyway, glad everything made it there in one piece, merry Christmas!

A big ol' print of Mount Panorama Circuit! Hell yes, I'm going to grab a frame for it ASAP.

Not sure who it's from (other than they're pretty certainly Australian) but their note implied something else might be in the works so hey, if you don't want to spill the beans til later that's cool but thanks mystery goon! Wanted you to know it arrived safe and well appreciated.

After some interesting tracking that simply stated "delayed" I got an update from Santa that my parcel had timewarped from NSW to central QLD overnight and was on board for delivery in town. I wasn't originally planning on a town trip but some stuff came up.

Well well, what have we here?

Santa brings gifts of joy to all the boys and girls!

Literally one of the reasons I ended up in town was to go to Bunnings (and I have been eyeing off this set!). Have to thank Santa for knowing about my love of knockoff lego.

Time to get my rear end into gear with some of the Tamiya kits I have laying around (assuming this is the hint gift mentioned in communique?)

Drillbits! I can never have enough (usually breaking them reaming out holes)

Thankyou soo much Santa / CAT INTERCEPTOR - gotta laugh looking back where I bet myself we'd get each other.
