But that's cursed rock, you take a lot of damage just from being close to it. - Keep moving. It's not worth sticking around to fight the really big, durable enemies. Especially if they have powerful knockback abilities. Since progress is gained by going up, you don't want to fall. You presumably have some means of digging by now, so just blast your way upwards if you need to. - For that matter, don't bother investigating chests, wands, health bonuses, etc. Stay focused on your mission, viz. getting the hell out of there ASAP. You can relax these rules a bit depending on how powerful your wands are of course. A homing death cloud simplifies the Tower immensely...but there's still plenty of nasty enemies that can wreck your day, so don't get too cocky.

I don't believe there are any wands in the Tower besides the reward wands, are there? There is no way I could ever leave a health bonus behind. Eeeeeever.

I thought my wand was ok, but man I was wrong. I pretty much just went "what the gently caress is that?" over and over again. It's nbd though because I'm scave scumming the gently caress out of this run.

I like to stay by the edges actually- narrows down where your threats come from. Gonna need good digging though, and the last few layers you probably have to wing it without some form of matter eating.

Apparently the game did not think explosion immunity was sufficient for a 2x stacked glass cannon build with a triple cast giga death cross wand. I think I completely deleted roughly 50% of the vault with a single shot and I died with a completely blank cause of death. Fair enough.

A cloud like the ones from the cloud spells appeared above my head for a fraction of a second and appeared to dump some acid on me when I started attacking the trap. No idea where it came from, it seemed like the trap spawned it somehow but maybe an enemy picked up a wand offscreen. But afaik the spell has a green cloud and lasts a lot longer, so who knows!

Could be two separate effects- there are traps that spit acid in the temple of art now, and if you ingest cursed meat (those skull bugs, probably) accidentally by pressing down on the ground, you get a brief cursed cloud effect

Giga death cross has a projectile component that explosion immunity doesn't protect against. afaik, it's not in the description. yep, been there. I hit the last boss with a bunch of chaos magic ball lightnings and the game was not happy about it. In NG+ for the first time though! I don't know where I found it but I have an unlimited spells touch of gold and yyyeah. Everything instantly dies.

I made it to the Temple of the Art using only a level 1 wand with damage aura + Heavy Shot + bouncing burst. Also, I just realized why The Vault has vats filled with meat.

It's similar- if you have [spell x][damage up][spell y] in a 2 spells per cast wand, both x and y get the damage up.

Regarding spiders burrowing into the holy mountain right before/after the jungle and pissing off steve, does this happen to anyone else? My friend with a similar number of hours says its never happened to them yet it seems like every other time I get there I hear *gong* you have angered the gods a few moments after going through the portal. One time I ported in to find three spiders and two wizards just chilling next to the statue. In that case they hadn't even burrowed there which means that all 5 must have been teleported there somehow.

I'd say it happens maybe 1 in 4 times that I go to the pre-Jungle Holy Mountain? Like, it's not even half the time, but it's definitely common enough that I know I'm on the clock as soon as I enter the mountain, and sometimes Steve shows up immediately because of how the spawns worked. Assuming I haven't pissed the gods off earlier, of course.

Maybe they just dislike me in particular. On the plus side, free hole to bypass the mountain collapse and retain wand editing! I mentioned the strong combo of bounce bolt / exploding projectile previously. It's rarer, but infestation seems to also get a similar large damage boost to bounce bolt, but generates a bunch of projectiles with one cast which can make it insane. They're super light so any speed mod sends them flying. Someone told me to try out a mist spell with homing / damage field, and that's also a really silly combo. I imagine that would work out extremely well with something like circle of stillness as well. currently I have something like trigger -> [homing][explosive proj][drill shot][damage mods][damage field] [multicasts] [lightning] [slime mist] [copy x3] [bounce bolt] [infestation] And this was prior to going through vault (got a good base wand from a repaired wand and some insane luck getting a copy x3 drop from a chest.) Every shot cleared more than a full screen past my vision in every direction, I hardly saw a single enemy face to face in the entire vault/temple of the art. I could have also put electric arc on it too but kept setting myself on fire. Just got fire immunity from the temple mountain now though

I find it pretty rare that worms or spiders anger the gods for me, certainly much more rare than in EA. By the time I'm in the Jungle though I would definitely hope I have a wand that can win a 1v1 with Steve, because he's not much worse than certain normal enemies at that point, and you have the benefit of fighting him in a controlled environment. And hey, like you said, free hole

I'm too enamoured with laser wands. Whenever I get a laser I try to make a lightsaber that I can go off the rails with. Then I die to something stupid like the alchemist boss' shield that immediately reflects the damage+ laser into my face through the tiny hole in the terrain I made to snipe him from.
