Not irrational concerns really with the unprecedented (but not unsafe) speed, but things shifted for me because it's not just Pfizer that turned out good results, it's Moderna too. Seems decently insulated from Big Pharma Moneygrabs, though that's obviously a factor. Also for you and y'all, be sure to read through this: https://blogs.sciencemag.org/pipeline/archives/2020/12/04/get-ready-for-false-side-effects As the vaccine rolls out, people are going to randomly keel over and die because people were already going to randomly keel over and die. Don't be scared when the poo poo comes out that X person got the COVID vaccine and died, as you could do the same thing over any vaccine.

I wouldn’t want to be a part of the first group to get vaccinated but I think enough people will be vaccinated before it’s an option for me that I’ll be comfortable with it’s safety. But like I said before 5G me with a microchip. My DNA has asthma, colon cancer, bipolar disorder, and drug/alcohol addiction. I’m so over this poo poo that I’d be the first one to fall into some trap with the vaccine.

For what it's worth, here are the numbers that I generally believe: https://twitter.com/ABC/status/1338441128631209984?s=19 The 40/44/16 split makes sense and it might be the same among medical professionals. At this early point, I feel that it's fine to slam that poo poo into the willing medical professionals (the 40%). By the time supply gets high enough to cover all the medical folks, the less-willing medical professionals that want a little time (44%) will come around and get it. The 44% need time/education/data, but the real problem is going to be that 16%. Delaying anything for the 40/44 is absolutely blood-on-hands stuff though, agreed there.

yeah there was a poll of NYFD a few weeks ago where 40% of the department said they wouldn't get the vaccine and then I looked into it and 35% of the department had already tested positive for covid by june so hey, prioritization.

Seems decently insulated from Big Pharma Moneygrabs, though that's obviously a factor. Yeah I mean even slop from the Chinese military, which absolutely didn’t follow ethical testing, was (apparently) able to hit 86%. Also very true for false side effects. Honestly being similar to the flu vaccine I’m expecting my arm to feel sore as poo poo for a day or two. Also I’m hoping for that because that will tell me something is working (i’m sure that’s probably a flawed logic). As someone who’s been able to look into the legal process for new drug applications in some of my work, I can tell you they track a ton of poo poo at the FDA as part of post drug surveillance. Adverse Reactions also happen just because it’s simply not possible, to test as many people with different variables, that would theoretically be required. I can assure you they absolutely keep track of that and so do the drug companies and more information will come available as people get it. Honestly the real concerns now is if you’ve been allergic to vaccinations in the past. Considering so many people here, not me obviously, have been in the military, i’m pretty sure if you have bad reactions too vaccinations you’d know about it already.

These vaccines have been in the works for a while since the og SARS, too. You would also be drat sure to hear about the science being bad from their competitors, too, and no one has stepped up to challenge it because it's sound. We're pretty loving good at making vaccines. And get your flu shots, damnit!

I may have said it before but this experience has been incredibly humbling. I never got the flu shot because I never got the flu. But learning about how the vaccine isn’t for you, it’s for everyone else, has been something that’s become crystal clear in the last year, so I’ll be getting my flu shot from here on. Don’t be an rear end in a top hat like I was for however many years it was that I skipped it. Get your flu shot.

Also for people who want to deep dive into the data. The FDA is perfect place to start. https://www.fda.gov/emergency-preparedness-and-response/coronavirus-disease-2019-covid-19/pfizer-biontech-covid-19-vaccine Just remember don’t suffer from Ben Carson syndrome. Legitimate experience and expertise in one area does not translate to all areas. I think it’s also called fighter pilot and engineer syndrome. Expect a lot of things to be confusing, but also try and find someone who can interpret it. This is in a specific thing to any one person this is just a general thing I got from doing Pharma doc review.

Pro-tip: if you know you need to get a bunch of vaccines or boosters, try to spread them out over a couple of appointments. I had to get five in one sitting before my first trip to Sub-Saharan Africa and I felt like someone had repeatedly walloped my arm with a 2x4 while also feeling slightly hungover for a few days. F- would not recommend.

Just spread multiple vaccinations out over several limbs. One in each arm, each leg, and you still got two asscheeks.

Literally, two into one arm and one in the other. Went to the gym afterwards and both arms got the worst muscle cramps imaginable.

Honestly while I think what you’re saying makes sense with the way medical care and even going in is rationed or a potential health risk, I would think it’s better to do it once.
