Are the rights to produce an anime based on a Shosetsuka ni Narou series just... way, way lower than say, what it would cost to get the rights to produce an anime about a decent web manga or something? There has to be a reason why there's so gotdang many of them. I have to imagine if there was a similar type of animation industry in the US, they'd be producing comparable amounts of Omegaverse cartoons or something

If you've watched Bang Dream, from the same animation studio and IP-holder, it's hitting a lot of similar notes - mostly in a good way IMO. The animation studio also seems to be getting increasingly comfortable with the CG style they've adopted recently and the production values are better off for it.

What'd go a long way is to sit them down and explain it's better to have the CGI run at a sane framerate rather than arbitrarily syncing it to 2D animation.

Don't expect a production anywhere near as lavish as Shield Hero or Goblin Slayer got.
