When I was a kid I needed to be facing north to tell the difference between left and right because left feels like west and right feels like east. On the rare occasion I get it wrong, and when I realize it, it's the most disorienting and bewildering feeling until my international compass or whatever corrects itself.

It's not like they were in an office building saying "hand me the stapler on your west."
