Once I noticed Elvis the Alien's chuckle at the end of like every scene, it kind of almost ruined his videos for me. I still laughed my rear end off watching his reviews for Countdown, A.M.I., and The Open House this past weekend.

One of the few known things about the algorithim is that it likes regular upload schedules and it likes all content to be samey so its easy to recommend. I didn't listen so my channels a clusterfuck of audiobooks, history podcasts, strange edits of internet poo poo, lost public domain films Ive managed to find, and rare docs and foreign movies no western company seems to care about cashing in on. I have ok sub numbers, and zero audience.

Yeah, as someone who was stuck playing vanilla tf2 on the xbox, it's hard to be overly nostalgic for the early years. There's been some missteps, but I'd say the games mostly improved over the years.

TF2 peaked around 2010, with the engineer update. After this point the weapon and cosmetics bloat started to hinder the readability of the classes, which was one of the early strengths of the game. It's also no coincidence that this was the last update before the lootboxes were added.

TF2 stopped being good 11 minutes, 23 seconds and 3.548 picoseconds before the Manniversary Update & Sale patch. Not really because of it just kinda happened coincidentally.

TF2 is still immensely fun as a game, its core loops and class design satisfying as all hell, but for every game where you get a chill server who might even pull a successful conga off, you'll get 20 stuffed with slur-slinging aimbots or people straight up screaming Nazi poo poo at each other. Shout out to the month I stuck #transrights in my steam name and every game became a coinflip whether I'd get kicked or merely have suicide statistics snidely posted at me. That said, Uncle Dane and LazyPurple never fail to get me in the mood to play, their enthusiasm is infectious.

Just murder a class's on way to stay aggressive and powerful in what was supposed to be their wheelhouse (Close quarters/cornered opponents) and replace it with nothing for years and then a few situational and kind of lovely new weapons. Also the phlog sucks to play against and to use what a poo poo weapon holy poo poo. And the backburner is for people that should just be playing spy instead. TF2 doing 12 or 20 man teams lets like half the server just Goof or Team Deathmatch while a handful pushes the cart or whatever. Also the maps were infinitely shittier. Every OW map is 2fort/Turbine level garbage.

Also removing ammo from your shooter kind of killed any real idea of map control outside of the health packs where are infinitely less useful because healing in that game is so plentiful and massive. Infinite Ammo means you dont ever have to pull away from a fight to restock which makes the ambush focus characters much much shittier since the game is entirely Murder Ball so they've had to buff and redo the cast so much.

At a certain point there was so much weird poo poo and strange weapons flying around in TF2 I eventually no longer even knew what people were holding or what their weapons could do. I could still hop into a server as a scout or a heavy or something and do pretty well, but by the end I was just bewildered all the time and I didn't feel like putting in the effort to learn about all 800000 weapons. Overwatch was dire from the beginning. It's like a shooter with "no fun allowed" as its guiding principle

On the other hand, nothing made me happier than the ol' airblast and flaregun combo and I was really disappointed they never released a flamethrower that was just 100% airblast so I could go ham with it. By the time I stopped playing I'd gotten ungodly good at airblasting every projectile except scout milk. Playing pyro wrong and out sniping snipers became a small but delightful passtime during longer games.
