If I made a giant effort thread about NFL players from my hometown would you guys read it? I started up just looking for QBs from metro Pittsburgh, and it turned into a thing bc I didn't even realize how many NFL legends, greats, hall of very good and current players are from the 7 county Pgh metro.

I know that it's interesting to me, but do yinz care?

Heck I'd probably read it, and do something similar. I know of at least one player from my hometown who was an offensive linemen on the Titans when they went to the super bowl.

This could be a good thread in general.

I of course would have to revisit at least Josh Freeman, but there are also some local guys who for real owned. Probably a lot less than Pittsburgh.

I started off thinking about how Pittsburgh has produced 4 HoF QBs, right (Namath, Montana, Marino and Kelly)? Actually, no it's 6 (also Blanda and Unitas)plus 20 other dudes who have started multiple games in the NFL, which is wild to me. That made me look up other positions, which made me wonder if you could make a 22 person team of HoF players (almost, no HoF WRs). Some positions are several players deep across all eras (QB, RB, OL, DL, LB). There's just a surprising number of players throughout the league's history up to and including now ranging from nobody you ever heard of to best ever out of a metro population of about 2 million people.

Ideally, it would make you think about where guys came from, maybe look up your own town like you said

For NYE my girlfriend and I are doing a frying party. Her mom gave us a bunch of lumpia that we have in our freezer so we'll fry some of that, plus we'll bread some veggies in tempura batter. For NYD I'll be making pizza using our fancy new kitchenaid stand mixer.

Steeeeriiiiiiiiike twooooooo!

Wife and I picked up some take and bake NYE special and cocktail mixers from a favorite restaurant of ours in St. Paul, and will be otherwise celebrating the exact same way we have spent every night before a day off for both of us (weed cookie, some drinks, a movie or TV).

Unrelated, she worked 12's the last four nights, and I ended up spending time playing Tropico, then Surviving Mars, then Cities: Skylines. There is something I really enjoy about simulation games, but I have yet to find the one I want to dump hundreds of hours into.

Also played a little more FF7R (it was going to be my focus about a week ago, but the other three sounded better in the moment). Got through Reactor 5 and the church. It is real up and down for me so far. The combat is just open enough I feel like I should be able to run around and i-frame roll through things like Dark Souls. As recommended, I've been maining Tifa during combat, which was good for little poo poo. I ended up using Barret for the Air Buster fight because Tifa was either in a stun animation from all the attacks or doing no damage. That and the Reno fight were both pretty frustrating, imo, so kind of a low point there. At this point I'll definitely stay through Wall Market, because I did like the Sector 7 slums.

After the second season came out is probably the perfect time to binge Titans since you can immediately watch the season premiere that really should have been the last episode of the first season.

I had a lot of free time and pushed ahead to the Shinra building, but Wall Market was really well done, and you’ll start to get the flow of combat and materia easily enough.

When you return to Wall Market in the daytime, you can hit the colosseum and do a two-person fight against low level goons that racks up AP, and you should be able to get the doubler by then. Plop a First Strike materia on Cloud and just Triple Slash to start the battles (select easy to speed it up) and you can get like ~35 AP every 45 seconds. 70 on whichever one is doubled.

I'm gonna make some beer battered squid, some shrimp too if there's batter left, maybe some onion rings. And I've got chicken wings thawing, I'm making hot wings for me and BBQ wings for the wife tomorrow.
We hit Total Wine and she got a bottle of fancy champagne and I'm gonna have a Delirium which is a fruity belgian beer.

Oh and we went for a hike today, it was like 60 out and sunny so that was nice, and also we got our drive-through covid tests today.
