I know we are all riding high on stabbing TEST up in an alley and then shoving them in a dumpster we now live outside of.

But I'm honestly curious has nobody sat CCP down and had a conversation about how someone literally at war with you can put up a beacon that shows up on your jump system and there is 0 way to remove it. This is terrible UI design even for :ccp:

So one thing that is bothering me still is that all these papi morons keep complaining that "the server held up during the first battle of M2-, there's no reason we could have known it wouldn't hold up today!" The jump-ins between the two fights were nothing at all alike.

During the first fight both sides jumped into system and immediately tethered. No one was issuing any commands, no one was turning on hardeners or scrambling their fighters or doing anything. Our fleet got the specific instruction "when you land don't touch anything." The only thing the server had to do while people were jumping in was do traffic control, tethering, and handle bumping mechanics. No one was issuing commands and overall the load was probably fairly light while people entered system. Not only that, but the peak then was only 25% more than what was already in system with just goons today.

But today? They tried to jump thousands of people into the middle of our fleet. On landing they all immediately had to turn on hardeners and start locking things up, while every single one of the four thousand goons all started issuing their own commands. The strain on the server must have been a thousand times greater than when people were jumping in the first fight. I'm not at all surprised that half the jump-in requests went haywire, there were hundreds of thousands if not millions of commands that the server was being flooded with at the same time it was trying to handle traffic control. Like, of course this was going to happen.
