Everybody left.

My mom and sister moved out in 2003. I moved out in 2006 because my life as a temp was going nowhere. From then through 2016, so many of my friends and family moved out of there, too. Now the only family members left there are the ones I was never really close to.

It’s kind of sad, but in hindsight I remember as a kid in the 90s having to go demonstrate in favor of tax referendums multiple times so my high school wouldn’t get closed down. The FYGM Paul Ryan/Scott Walker (as County Executive) era was ascendant, and everyone wanted their taxes cut at the expense of investment that would keep anybody wanting to stick around there.

Now there’s this weird death spiral of chuds making their towns miserable to live in while at the same time decrying feeling “left behind,” as people move away, further cratering their resources and economies. It’s nuts that a place that used to have honest-to-god socialists in power is now so Republican.

Yeah, it has been depressing to see the collapse of Wisconsin in that regard. Of course, being a Cubs fan, I get to see the Ricketts open their pocketbooks for the GOP all the time.

the lions should simply hire a recently-retired player as their coach, like when the brooklyn nets somewhat bafflingly hired jason kidd

larry fitzgerald could be available, drew brees, maybe frank gore

william clay ford literally never hired anyone with gm experience so the millen hire is actually more likely than if he had hired someone who knew how to do the job, interestingly

his first gm hire was an ex player who was his drinking buddy, lmao

FOR THE WIN FOR THE WIN FOR THE WIN
Both Lions and Calvin are being petty. I've never heard him expound much love for the organization or the fans. People act like this guy played for free, in reality he had massive contracts that arguably crippled the cap for the rest of the team. He took $110 million dollars from this team and now doesn't want to be friends with them or the fans until they pay back just $1mil of money that he thought he was somehow owed despite quitting on said team. Remember he tried to go to another team before quitting. Then expects some kind of extra courtesy payment, like the Lions can buy his loyalty back. That fan base showed him nothing but love for years. They should have wrote him off and given him the signing bonus, but gently caress him and the front office.

Nah Calvin should get that paper, it's not like he can hang his hat on all the playoff success he had with the Lions. They are technically allowed to withhold that payment, and he's technically allowed to tell them to gently caress off.

It's even the financially prudent move, if all it costs is $1 million to prevent these embarrassing articles from coming out every offseason, then they should do it.

I don’t know much about the situation, but if Calvin Johnson wanted to be traded and retired when the Lions refused, then gently caress the Lions organization forever and ever.

Hey, I miss my $600/mo Historic Downtown Waukesha loft apartment with a Woodmans 5 minutes down the road, I frequently wish I never left that simple, easy life.

But yes, the rest of Waukesha outside of that like three small square blocks is a steaming poo poo pile.

That's an MVP quality season, particularly given the modern meta-game (though I also kind-of wonder how teams value a traditional shutdown corner vs. an interception machine nowadays).

I miss $600 rents living in the Midwest and Culver's, fresh cheese curds, New Glarus beer, and buying liquor at the grocery store. I don't miss the 6 months of Winter, the flat landscape, and the lack jobs in my field. I'm really hoping to go back and see my parents for the first time in 2 years.

I’m just going to qft this entire thing, w the exception of being able to buy liquor here in the grocery.

Also, I hit up that same Woodman’s for beer/liquor every time I visit my parents.

Was going to say ‘every time I come home’ but when you moved almost 17 years ago it’s not really home anymore. And all the fields/farms surrounding the area are now subdivisions or strip malls.
