I never played any of the Jedi Knights games, and a Star Wars fan who told me about Kyle Katarn was eating at the time, so for years I thought the extended Star Wars canon had a character named "Guile Guitar". It's honestly not much more ridiculous than any other Star Wars name so I didn't really question it, and I still wish that was his actual name.

My mother's mother's name was Helga. It was never any sort of secret or great mystery; I knew my mother's aunt had had a sister called Helga, but I'm just really loving stupid so didn't make the connection.

Well, I just found out that the song "Loving You" really does go "dood'n dood'n doo doo! AHHHHH!", and it wasn't just South Park making a joke that nobody knows the lyrics in that bit.

More for you: the woman who sang that song, the late Minnie Riperton, is Maya Rudolph’s mother. She sings, “Maya, Maya, Maya,” as the song fades out. Edit: doing some fact checking to make sure I was getting everything right, I just found out that Maya Rudolph was a member of The Rentals, Matt Sharp’s (formerly of Weezer) band; she played keyboard and did backing vocals on tours supporting their first album root beer has a new favorite as of 15:43 on Jan 2, 2021 |
