The main change is that although you still get people who are buying their daily $60 pack of Benson and hedges (one guy buys them by the carton several times a week); most people now ask what the cheapest 20 pack is (currently Holiday at 27.50) and just buy that. I guess though the fact that people are buying a 20 pack when the same people would have been buying larger packs several years ago is promising. Also for the longest time the tax was applied oddly to pouches which made them much cheaper vs smoking tailors, then last year it seemed to change and they leaped up in price. Now most 50g pouches are well over $100 and the cheapest 25g is $49.95. The Lord Bude fucked around with this message at 04:51 on Jan 6, 2021 |

I still smoke some darts but not many these days. $40 is a lot of money so it makes it easy to just walk away and buy a videogame or a steak dinner. Also on that front people I used to work with that smoked a pack of 30 a day have all dropped to less than 10 just on the price. For rational actors the system works but they're still insanely addictive which is going to own people forever. As someone that will relish a coffee and a ciggie I say just ban them who cares.

It's still a miscarriage but most people that experience them before six weeks understand it's a dice game you will lose often. I can't be hosed reading whatever drivel they've churned out for this individual's unfortunate situation.

It sounds heartless (which is what the author of that article is going for), and she has every right to be sad because I’m sure she was excited and happy to be pregnant, but at 4 weeks it isn’t much more than a period, so writing that article to demonise the border closures is a huge stretch and pulling on heart strings that don’t need to be pulled on basically (USER WAS PUT ON PROBATION FOR THIS POST)

The only thing people know is that during the end of the lockdown, I took my son to a park that was slightly further away than the 5km travel limit. If you want an audit of my views for the sake of it, here you go: - I agree with everything the Vic state government has done except: - The curfew was completely wrong and should never have been implemented as it wasn't recommended by health experts - Specialist schools should have remained open during lockdown - The 5km travel bubble should have been 10km to accommodate people at the edge of metropolitan areas - The state government should have provided more financial assistance when announcing the harshest lockdowns in the country - Daniel Andrews should step down for failing to run a competent hotel quarantine program that led to the second wave - There should have been more exceptions to travel restrictions, like L platers wanting to practice in their car, or whatever - They should have implemented lockdown plans during the end of the first wave, rather than scrambling around like fools during the second - they had months to prepare roadmaps and they didn't That's it. I vote Greens, before you say anything. CelestialScribe fucked around with this message at 05:59 on Jan 6, 2021 |

Lol gently caress you all, CS is right. The last set of border restrictions (with respect to the land borders) have been incredibly poorly thought out and ramped up with little to no warning. There's a clear example of how poorly they've been applied to regions closer to Melbourne than the actual Sydney hotspots and you've all taken it as a fantastic opportunity to engage in a group game of well actually. Seriously, have a look at the route on a map. Nanpa fucked around with this message at 06:26 on Jan 6, 2021 |

The Artificial Kid posted:Daniel Andrews should step up onto a little podium and be given medals and champagne for not being the Liberals, and for doing what needed to be done in spite of constant sledging from the federal government. The states should never have had to run a quarantine program, returning citizens/residents should have been quarantined in a properly organised centre away from major cities. I don't deny his conviction was exactly what was needed to be done and he remained strong in the face of enormous pressure. That doesn't change the fact that both hotel quarantine and contact tracing were an absolute joke. The resignations clearly show that, and Andrews himself said that he would have fired both women responsible if they were still in their roles. The fact no one knows who was responsible is the worst part of all. It's a shamble and he should take responsibility for it. I'm also not going to engage with anyone on this who hasn't read the report. CelestialScribe fucked around with this message at 06:15 on Jan 6, 2021 |

Six months from now when most people have been vaccinated I'll agree that Andrews should probably have resigned for the quarantine hotel fiasco, but he's a massive asset to the entire country right now because we're still in an emergency and he's willing to run a lockdown as long as it takes.
