This isn't the Rubicon, this is one of the dozens of incidents of Roman politicians stirring up the mob to win a political fight in the decades leading up to the Rubicon moment.

Tiberius Christ posted:Shes was no angel are you surprised she was killed? what did you expect to happen to someone trying to vault a barricade and get at some congressmen? I'm not saying it's good and that it kicks rear end she was killed -- it's bad she died and it's always bad when the state commits violence to anyone -- but she was not "executed for a broken window" she was trying to storm the seat of state power, even if totally incompetently, and the fault for her death lies more on the insane hosed up strain of reactionary white supremacist magical thinking that is qanon that colonized her mind than anything else.

The conditions and circumstances of her death are sad and the problem that we're fighting against. Her actual death was the world she wants to live in.

yesterday's actions were no more a coup than the 2011 wisconsin teachers strike where they occupied the statehouse and demanded the legislature pass the kind of laws they wanted if anything the teachers were far more of a coup because they had actual demands, structure, organization, and leadership and operated in confrontation with law enforcement in otherwords, settle down you stupid beavises. this was just a demonstration that turned into a riot. they weren't terrorists and the weren't doing a loving coup. but they were morons. its also not good to celebrate the kind of state violence that is itching to be used against you and yours just because it happened to be used against your enemies
