I do not understand one bit of bitcoin but I put some money in a bit ago and have already doubled my money, pulled the initial investment out and put it somewhere more safe, and am letting the rest ride. No idea why it keeps going up, but it beats driving an hour to the nearest casino!

That's probably true if you all-in. I bought the majority of my coins when the price was way low last March and I figured if I lose it all it wouldn't hurt that much, thought at MOST I'd lose maybe a grand or two just because the amount of cultists refusing to sell no matter what would help it stay up a bit, luckily almost immediately as I bought, it saw continuous growth up till today when I figured enough was enough for gambling. Personally I've always maintained an emergency fund of 10k and if for whatever reason I was dying for some extra cash I have a few grand in stocks that I'm not super attached to.
