All they had to do was just not promise him they'd talk to him and it would have been business as usual. But making the promise and then not bothering to at least sit him down and let himself be sold on the idea (which I'm sure you could figure out a way to do)...

Just sitting here shaking my head wondering how they got to this point and I don't even care about the Texans.

Or like talk to him and pretend they took him seriously.

Like interview a candidate he liked while never planning to hire him

the new bug eyed houston gm will fix the draft pick situation by trading watson to the jets in exchange for the first rounders they got for adams - texans might even be able to secure a franchise QB with those picks

okay Watson trade speculation time, what if Miami gave both 2021 firsts (one is HOU's old one anyway lol), next year's first, a smattering of other picks and Tua

this is all going to result in Watson starting for New England next year.

No, coach. It's just that everyone with an available opening is interviewing Bienemy except for the Texans and he's the guy Deshaun wants.

I mean he's a really likeable guy in their defense, they might be inclined to hire him if they talked to him.

Literally the only team not to offer Bienemy an interview. Even if your franchise quarterback weren't all for him it would be a good idea to give the guy an interview.

I'd feel worse for Watson except he knew exactly what he was getting into re-signing with Houston.

They wasted Luanne on Lucky!

She could of have been so much more but the writers just didn't care!
The new league year doesn't start until March 17th. By then the Texans will have a new coach and they'll have talked Watson off the ledge and all this will be forgotten.

bills
chiefs
ravens
seahawks

by my reckoning

EDIT: VVVV chargers / packers were on my short list, but Watson is more proven than Herbert, Rodgers is way older than Watson / Love is untested

Chiefs, Chargers, Green Bay, Seattle... that's gotta be it. Theres other teams that likely couldnt afford him or the potential trade but man their GMs would do whatever it took if Watson was legit up for sale.

Green Bay would absolutely trade for Watson just because Rodgers is ancient.

"Yes I can hear you, I don't have ear cancer!"

I don’t see any reason for the Bengals to trade for him either since Burrow a) looked good before getting hurt and b) is much cheaper currently.
