I am a spectacularly bad poster and everyone in the Schadenfreude thread hates my guts.
For anyone who doesn't bother to read through the article and just wants to hyuk:

quote:

Pep Guardiola has praised His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, following his purchase of the 1896–1910 Football Association Challenge Cup (FA Cup)

The Manchester City manager said it was a great gesture from the Club owner, who recently bought the trophy at auction before offering to loan it back to the National Football Museum in Manchester, where it has been housed since 2005.

A forerunner of the FA Cup in use today, it is the first silverware City won when we beat Bolton Wanderers 1-0 in the 1904 Final to become the first professional football club from the city of Manchester to win a major honour.

It was originally feared that the trophy - considered by The Arts Council to be an item of International Historic Significance - would be privately purchased and taken overseas and Guardiola is delighted it will be able to remain in Manchester.

I thought I was really only a fan of long range goals where the ball is struck so hard it gets in still rising, but I guess I'm also a big fan of goals where it just dips in right under the crossbar like that

My fave goal is a curled effort from the edge of the box that seems to hang in the air for ages then pings in off the postage stamp at the far post and goes to the opposite side of the goal

There's one such goal on premier league years and I can never remember who it is or when it was, very frustrating

Less media saturation helped I am sure. You were guaranteed some form of moment of own on MOTD usually each week and it'd be the first time most of us saw it. Our Youtube goal compilations were VHSed goal of the month comps.

When I was like 5 (mid-90s) I remember repeatedly watching a VHS documentary about Pele. I remember him juggling an orange or mandarin or something and specifically a phrase like "a penalty is an automatic/certain goal" It's my earliest memory I think.

Anybody have any idea what doc it could be?

He took their squad to Dubai for a winter training camp and then the first photos from it were the team having a drink by the pool. It’s clear they thought no social distancing applied abroad. The injured defender he took caught COVID so the first team squad all had to isolate. Another player has also tested positive. They remain 21 points off first.
