The thing about Mahito is that Sakuna can be more of an rear end in a top hat, but you kind of have to respect his commitment to the craft of being a total rear end in a top hat.

Mahito, meanwhile, is just the worst.

Also Mahito gets more screen time and opportunity to do things. Sukuna would also be the worst if he could freely act.

Oh, I was under the impression he was a human who just grew to a scale where he was basically indistinguishable from a cursed spirit.
But yeah, either Death, War, or Power I suppose. Or being a shitheel, he hasn't really been onscreen enough to display what it might be.

Also, did the OP change slightly for this newest episode, or did I just not notice it before? It's slightly different from the one up on youtube etc.
It glitches out a tiny bit after showing Junpei, and the teardrop sound isn't paired with Sukuna's finger growing in water anymore, but rather Itadori looking down with a couple tears rolling down his cheeks, which used to be a bit later I think, and tearless.

It's always nice when animes play a bit with their intro over the course of a series.

Sukuna in this series was a person rather than a manifested curse like Mahito/Jogou/Hanami. Sukuna's deal isn't just that he's super powerful (where just one of his fingers is enough to make a special grade curse), but that his technique/mastery are beyond even somebody like Gojo- he can effortlessly dunk on Mahito despite having maybe half the amount of cursed energy because his mastery of curses/cursed technique is essentially the absolute peak of the art.

Mahito is also a really young curse who is still figuring out how to best use his abilities.

Sukuna was a person who became a curse after death. After all a person doesn’t have two faces and four arms. Then at some point he was defeated and his curse energy was sealed into his fingers.

The current version of Sukuna is stronger than Mohito he’s just not as strong as a Jogo in terms of raw power.

I'm curious how the other students will react when Itadori just strolls up to participate in the contest/tournament-arc posthumously.
I really enjoyed how utterly unphased and blase everyone was about him just popping back to life on the autopsy table.

(I assume sorcerors returning from the dead, or being mistakenly classified as dead and healing themselves back up again isn't unheard of.
Just uncommon enough that nobody would question him being dead after ripping his own heart out.)

Raposa

That post went quite well, I think.
With as much as Nanamin and other sorcerers have talked about losing companions, I imagine that it isnt that it's common for them to come back from the dead. Rather that everybody just knows of the King of Curses unparalleled abilities, and the people in that room all knew that Itadori was Sukuna's vessel.

The OP has actually been changing quite consistently throughout the cour. There's the bits you noticed, but also more characters being added to the picnic at the end as they were introduced, and Gojo's eyes being added to the opening after the episode he took off his blindfold as opposed to the tease that was there prior as the ones I'm aware of.

It's a bit vague. In the manga Gojo says that Sukuna was a man (human) first, but when Yuji asks about the fingers he says that Sukuna originally had 4 arms as well- this would require him to have had those 4 arms as a person because his grave wax became cursed after his death which includes his fingers. But we only see Sukuna even in his mental realm as Evil-Yuji, with 2 arms. It's weird.

Maybe it's because he's doing the whole "appearance is in the eye of the beholder" thing and he looks like Yuji because, well, they're sharing a body.

Yeah, I very much expect that if there were other possible vessels of Sukuna about, those would have a Sukuna form that looked more like them. He is directly taking over Itadori's body after all, so it makes sense that his current shape matches up with the body he's stuck inside.
(On that note, if there are multiple different vessels at the same time, would that mean that the Sukunas in the different ones were different entities, or the same one just spread out among them?)

In other words, Sukuna has Kirby-style morphing powers.

And yeah, not a fan of the new OP or ED, either.
