Nothing reflected as of now on the airmen registry if that means anything

I seem to recall my address info updating almost immediately but that's kind of a different deal than 'surrendered, suspended, or revoked changes

Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm pretty sure I got my full A&P before my airframe showed up on the registry

In other sad (?) news, Boeing has accepted the last ordered for the 747. Atlas Air ordered the four 8F freighters.

So I had to google this, and after I finished laughing I read the wiki, and feel the boll weevil monument's time might have come again:

quote:

Bon Fleming, a local businessman, came up with the idea to build a statue and helped to finance the cost. As a tribute to how something disastrous can be a catalyst for change, and a reminder of how the people of Enterprise adjusted in the face of adversity, the monument was dedicated on December 11, 1919 at the intersection of College and Main Street, the heart of the town's business district.

It’s posting the wrong tail. He sold that one recently, now flies N513SJ.

Speculation on other fora about his YouTube cleanup and issuance of takedown notices to mirrors is that he was contacted by the FAA about some recent flights where he moonlit as a flight instructor. That may get a person in trouble faster than mere reckless flying.

I didn’t see the video, but people are saying that he gave the kind of tips from the right seat that the FAA has frowned upon in the past.

quote:

My guesses in order of likelihood:

  1. Letter from the FAA about his most recent video riding right seat with a friend. He sounds a lot like a (crappy) instructor instead of just a safety pilot. FAA doesn’t like it when people give instruction without the appropriate certificates. It won’t help that his instruction included a flyby for the tower in IFR conditions.
  2. Letter from the FAA about his “maintenance test flight” in a friend’s 320 where he made multiple low passes violating 91.119(c) with his own cameraman being the person within 500’.
  3. Letter from the FAA regarding his recent trip into Little River.
  4. 5-figure fine from the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Several months ago, he posted a VFR sightseeing flight from Monterey to OAK. Besides the usual low altitude shenanigans over the Santa Cruz Pier that the FAA should have pursued, he then flew right through the protected MBNMS at 100’. His flight aware track confirms it all, and if I recall, he even told ATC his position and altitude in the MBNMS when he terminated services. If the FAA didn’t get him, I’d bet it was the California tree huggers. They don’t typically just let intentional violations of their marine sanctuaries go.

If it was the sanctuary that got him I'm going to hug a tree as well. Trees are good.

I turned a pilot I know on to Jerry and she loves him. One thing she asked me "Is he an instructor?" Nope! But he sure thinks he is! Whenever he's in the right seat, he's telling the left seat how to fly. She noticed it right away.

I was trying to find the video where he sold his 414 and flew right seat with the new owner. Jerry did something like not fill one of the tanks to teach the guy how to switch tanks. Really wish I had the foresight to save that one.

For some reason I was reading old accident reports on the ASN Wikibase recently, and it seems like a frequent cause is the same sort of cavalier bullshit that Jerry seems to live by. Pilot thinks he's hot poo poo, tries to take off into giant thunderstorm/fly into known icing/does his own maintenance illegally/etc.

Except these usually ended in death and/or destroyed aircraft. I would guess he's just on a lucky streak in that regard.
