I used to use the family excuse when I still had facebook. Then my mother started posting trumper talking points, I blew up on her, and hosed off of facebook that day. Most people on my facebook had my number, haven't heard a loving peep from the bulk of them, and I'm fine with that. The fewer wannabe nazis in my life, the better. I deactivated mine right after the Pandemic started and haven't looked back. Only reason I didn't delete it is so if there's a family emergency or something, I can reactivate it/use messenger to reach out to family. Thankfully the friends and family I want to stay in touch with is good about calling/texting/emailing instead of relying on Facebook. Everyone else? Meh.

 This is one of the many checkpoints in downtown DC today. Soldiers with rifles but no mags in the magwells, tons of cops, streets leading downtown completely blocked. Personally I wish Biden and Harris had opted to swear in at home, surrounded by their families, in a gesture of solidarity for the millions of Americans who are stuck at home because of COVID. That the only in-person audience will be 25,000 soldiers on a National Mall that is closed to the public is super sad, but worse, I feel that it sends a message to the chud terrorists that they’re worthy of this kind of response; that they wield power that warrants making DC look like an occupied city. This whole thing really feels like a deep low for the country, no matter what kind of inspiring speech Biden delivers.
