I know the CP heist is already down to science(scope here, go here, creep here, escape) but is there a checklist or anything for hitting the various unique things on the island over a couple of heists? I'm not in it for the payout other than having one ready for help out others really. Things like the shotgun, Rubio's gun, are there any trophys or anything that you keep somewhere? Like Doomsday each act had a trophy or display in the facility. Or really is it strictly about unlocking trade prices on the new vehicles. Basically I don't want to play it the casino where its the same entry every time and just do the same script over and over. Honestly once everything is unlocked I don't see myself coming back unless new twists are added

I kinda dig creeping around the island for setup things, but so far I've been scattered all around the island so it seems like a bit of overkill. Pretty sure I've seen all the one time things for entry and exit and the tower and power station. Think a lot of it this first time is from following the cutscenes and maybe in repeat runs it makes more sense when its pared down to what you need. Is the best plan to figure out your route first and then scope along that path to find things like guard clothes and such, to get you to stick to a plan? For example, use the PT boat, and come in at west dock, theres no real need to scope anything north by the airstrip, right? Find things along that route and go for it

I will say that I am probably in the minority where the story part of doomsday and cayo really do nothing for me. I like the toys and "other' stuff that come along with each of them, but I feel it strays from the criminal enterprise aspect that I DO enjoy. It feels like the superhero save the world plot of doomsday, and the jungle love theme of Cayo, should be a totally different game(s) with a much higher military atmosphere. Tacking them on to GTA and selling bad drugs and running illegal nightclubs and cool cars and rich crime lord stuff etc, just seems..... off

they added treasure chests to cayo perico island

not a trophy, but something else to do on the island

He also did walkthroughs for all the setups. They're fantastic and I use his method to get easy elite challenge clears for an extra $100k, assuming there's enough product to fill your bag at the main dock.

Speaking of, on my last clear there was only cash at the main dock and I had a ton of space left. Rather than leave straight away I took my boat around the airport to the north dock (where you go for the first "story" playthrough) which is pretty easy to clear. There are only single guards and cameras around so it's pretty low-risk to sneak into the northern stash building to load up on more loot. There's also plenty of cover to hide from Rubio's chopper and he won't go over the water while you're driving your boat over. I walked out with 300k-400k more than I would have for a few extra minutes of work. I recommend that if you still have a bunch of bag space.

Random Rant Edit: I loving hate the cargobob and every mission involving it. It's a finicky, janky piece of poo poo and it has been basically the only source of mission failures since I've returned. Just lost $300k in nightclub sales because they got destroyed while I was dragging my loving hook over the van over and over and over again. I also have to spend 10 minutes switching sessions whenever that stupid piece of poo poo shows up in I/E car sales because that mission takes 3x as long as any other even assuming you can get the cargo bob to hook the car while you're getting shot at.

I get the theory on it. I've watched videos. Occasionally I'll even get it to hook onto a vehicle. But it still feels like it's 90% luck if the game decides it wants to actually register you as picking up the vehicle. gently caress the cargobob.

I love the cargobob... especially on that nightclub sale mission, because afterward you have a buffed one that has a longer rope and can pick up buses if you’re patient. It’s such a crazy mechanic to be in the game, lol

I suck so much at using the Cargobob so the one day I successfully grabbed a random player driving his car and flew him out into the ocean was one of my proudest moments.

It's either pure coincidence that I can't win the Toreador no matter how many times I quit and relaunch GTA, or Rockstar snuck in some code this week that TOTALLY RIGGED the odds on the Lucky Wheel. I didn't have to sit through this many load screens to win the PR4 or the Ocelot XA-21. Sad!

If you're on PC, you don't need to quit the game each time - you can simply disconnect your internet (physically by turning off wifi or disconnecting your cat5 cable, or using 'Network Connections' panel to Disable) which will boot you back to single player. Reconnect internet, reconnect to Social Club, and join a new Solo or Crew Only online session.

When you get the pattern down, you can spin every 2 minutes while watching a movie or show.

1. I did not know that you could disconnect to get infinite spins. That's awesome and I'm glad you all mentioned it.

2. I've gotten "Mystery" at least 5 6 times in the last hour, which supposedly has the same odds as the Toreador. Still no Toreador.

4. Math is dumb.

Edit: Finally got it and oh man it was totally worth save scumming. It’s insanely fun

Well, I finally got the wheel to land on the Toreador. This is definitely Stromberg Plus, but instead of the free shark livery, I kept the stripes and gave it a nice metallic orange 70s paint job. I just have to remember not to honk the horn at random players as there is no horn. I just end up boosting into a chain link fence like an idiot.

I’ve been waiting for MC businesses to go on sale. Since I never sell from them, it doesn’t matter where they’re located, so I want to move them to different parts of the map. That way I’ll have a “safe house” in every region

If it takes too long, I’ll just do it anyway. It’s not like money is too scarce.

What I've heard is that GTA 6 will likely be a singleplayer only game, and GTA Online will become a standalone F2P game. Makes sense from a business perspective.

Both is good. Buy supplies for your bunker, then do all the scouting/prep/ and finale for cayo perico. By the time your done the bunker should be pretty close to be good for a solo sale.

GTAOnline has matured so much since it first debuted when i first played it, its like 60 hours of stuff in itself. and i really dont want to switch to a new universe so hopefully they do keep it as its own thing. when i first played back when online was in beta, we barely had 1 heist - so i would just grind survivals all the time and do racing. now a days there is actual stuff to do.

The patent for the new npc's is a giant 'so what' to me - NPC's reacting differently based on mood is what it seems to be about which i thought we've had that in games for a while.

imo NPC A.I. is one of the last big hurdles of open world games, we haven't progressed in that area since like... i dunno, GTA4? I think people have argued that the A.I. is actually worse than GTA4, although they have definitely tweaked the behavior of the A.I. over time. For instance, when I first started playing if you stood near an NPC for too long they would always fight you no matter what, now they are a bit more chilled out.

Along these lines, recent interviews or articles have shown that R*'s near future plan for moving forward is to include more single-layer or solo friendly content inside the framework of online. It seems contradictory but there were a LOT of people that really wanted a solo heist(we got Cayo Perico) and it seems to work for both solo and multi. The way I interpret it is that we'll be seeing a lot more like this where its partially freemode for setups and basic work, but then dropping into instanced play for *game-critical* missions, finales, important things. I'm pretty OK with that as I mainly treat the game as a sandbox; if there's people around then that's cool, but if its empty then cool i can do other things

Patent information was already discussed a bit, i read it but didnt retain much of the content lol

Really the only other thing so far written in stone is sometime 2nd half of this year, ps5(and maybe X and maybe PC?) will get an enhanced and expanded version of GTA5. I do not see this as the introduction of stable netcode or any earthshattering updates to the game mechanics itself. What I am anticipating is more of a remastered version with graphics and effects optimized for the new gen's hardware, and possibly some equalizing of content... bring some dlc vehicles and stuff into single player, prune some wasted assets, basically bring the game up to say 2018 standards. There was a discovery of some code referencing 'character generation transfer' or something, presumably this is related to bring your dude to the new updated version of GTA5. That also supports breaking out GTAO as a standalone product and being able to transfer characters to that for this current edition

Voice and character actor for Michael was recently in the news for getting the COVID and is well into recovery, so good for him on that front

Watch_Dogs 2 did an excellent job of combining multiplayer and singleplayer so I would like to see more of that. For instance, if you got a wanted level in your singleplayer game, it would send a player after you from his singleplayer game. From the second players perspective, an enemy hacker organization is trying to get away from some poo poo and you have to stop him
