The question that is going to come up, and will likely be investigated, and was already under investigation: Was how many of these did Trump sell for cash? I suspect a lot of them are paid pardons, and the DOJ under Biden likely is going to come crashing down on that.

My question is, could this specific example of pardons be examined because if the President can pardon an attack on the judicial or Congress, then there really isn't 3 pillars nor checks and balances.

That's not the same as the distinction between state and federal for the purpose of a pardon, though. States are their own sovereigns. As such they have their own criminal domain. That DC has its own courts and criminal code that are treated like state offenses for a lot of purposes does not change the fact the are still federal laws under which the president has supreme authority. The President I think has exclusive power to pardon DC offenses.

The pardon power is exclusive to the executive. The check on the executive is impeachment.

quote:

Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy told The Associated Press on Sunday that officials are conscious of the potential threat, and he warned commanders to be on the lookout for any problems within their ranks as the inauguration approaches. So far, however, he and other leaders say they have seen no evidence of any threats, and officials said the vetting hadn’t flagged any issues that they were aware of.

”We’re continually going through the process, and taking second, third looks at every one of the individuals assigned to this operation,” McCarthy said in an interview after he and other military leaders went through an exhaustive, three-hour security drill in preparation for Wednesday’s inauguration. He said Guard members are also getting training on how to identify potential insider threats.

A few pages late, but Re: NG with empty mag wells, this was the SOP during the civil unrest this summer on MN. Some what of an EOF, we slapped mags in when we started to have things thrown at us. Eventually at the squad/team level we kind of dictated our own posture given the surrounding/situation we were in. At one post we took off our vests and stashed our weapons in our truck (responsibly, out of sight of prying eyes but always one of us within arms reach) to project a friendlier presence.

It seems like if your force isn't able to automatically engage with lethal force at a predetermined range, regardless of whether the traitors are firing first/visibly armed/etc they're going to be overwhelmed by sheer numbers or else unwilling to shoot whites up close and personal, and either way it essentially ends up like 1/6 where the traitors can just kind of push past.

I would imagine much of the senior leadership would have real life experience of civil unrest in Iraq/AFG, and would dictate things accordingly. That could be completely wrong, but I know that a bunch of the dudes in the MD NG who in the Grey Riots had guys of that era who helped them understand what it's like on the ground.

I am probably too hopeful.

Is there any law against recording the contents of a public radio channel such as this? Asking for a friend.

Nope, there's no expectation of privacy on the radio, and only the government/military/police departments can legally use encrypted radio transmissions. (and actual crypto-capable radio gear is very rare, very very expensive, and is almost entirely police surplus Motorola VHF radios)

Amateur radio operators are also very protective of their frequency allowances and do radio direction finding stuff for fun and to report on pirates, the ARRL appears to have issued a "read between the lines" statement in response to things, and hopefully whoever Biden appoints to the FCC will reinvigorate their enforcement branch since that rear end in a top hat Ajit Pai has been loving up the entire agency.

For over 100 years amateur radio and ARRL — the National Association for Amateur Radio® — have stood for the development of the science and art of communications, public service, and the enhancement of international goodwill. Amateur Radio’s long history and service to the public has solidified the well-earned reputation that “Amateur Radio saves lives.”

Amateur Radio Operators, due to their history of public service, their training, and the requirement that they be licensed by the FCC have earned their status as a component of critical communications infrastructure and as a reliable resource “when all else fails."

Amateur Radio is about development of communications and responsible public service. Its misuse is inconsistent with its history of service and its statutory charter. ARRL does not support its misuse for purposes inconsistent with these values and purposes.

Yeah that most likely cost $15-$30k depending on the specific plane and whatever other services were used. Affluent bougie types spend more than that on pickup trucks.
