SCOTUS dismissed the emoluments case and ordered lower courts to dismiss theirs as well. The given reason is "well he's not president anymore, clause doesn't apply, nothing that can be done now."

Which was because the lower cases were people suing to get him to stop violating the constitution, which he is no longer violating.

It doesn’t mean he can’t be sued civilly or criminally prosecuted for things that he did.

In 2000, the Republican party had Donald Trump run in the Reform party primaries. the two important things to remember with this are:

1. The republicans knew that a viable reform party would siphon enough votes away, ensuring a Dem victory as it did in 1992.
2. Pre-Sarah Palin conservatives saw Donald Trump as a absurd candidate

By introducing absurdity into that race, it allowed everyone to see how absurd the entire party was. The reform party was relegated back to fringe 3rd party status and is no longer a threat to either party.

Thats what i think WSB is doing with the equities market in the era of "money printer go brrrr"

I had to do a big-rear end case study on the VW/Porsche short-shitshow of 2008 while still in school and on of the most important things I learned was that when you attempt to explain short selling and its potential ramifications to people unfamiliar with the stock market, you need to explain it like an onion with three layers, with the outermost being the very basic principle of short-selling, and you have EXACTLY ONE MINUTE to make your audience understand that when you borrow prime beef worth 10 bucks, sell it immediately for that price, and then buy it back when it's worth 8 bucks to return it to the lender, you make 2 bucks.
If you stick the landing in that time frame, you're open to start peeling away the next layers of the onion.

If you go outside that window, or - god help you - struggle in your delivery, your audience will start hemorrhaging from every orifice as lovecraftian horrors descend from the ceiling.

Kellyanne Conway may have tweeted out a topless photo of her own 16-year old daughter Claudia. This comes after Claudia posted tiktoks allegedly depicting verbal and physical abuse by Conway.

Ideally Claudia would win emancipation from her garbage parents and Kellyanne would go to Skeleton Jail.

I know the courts have to use "allegedly" but ain't nothing "alleged" about those videos. Kellyanne Conway is a child abusing scumfuck and she deserves jail. CPS backing down and ignoring Claudia's cries for help because Kellyanne is a rich white woman is loving sickening and I hope this is the thing that means they step in.

It was probably less because she's rich and white, bit more because she was rich and white and worked directly for the President. That last bit is no longer true, so I can only hope that she's got some cuffs in her near future.

There literally is no other choice when it comes to trying to save for retirement. 401ks were built to give money to financial management firms and let corporations pretend to care about their workers while completely avoiding retirement responsibilities. 401k matches were quietly cut in 2009 since most people underestimate the value of long term compounding interest and their retirement needs and didn't realize how much money they were losing from it. Finally, 401ks are wholly inadequate as a vehicle and will be insufficient for when people do retire.

Still, any financial advice that doesn't put money in a tracker ETF is there to separate people from their money and is still common. Its like the one really easy, good financial decision you can make, given that you have the spare cash to do so because as Cole pointed out, most people don't.

This whole system is a loving scam to suck money off the masses and funnel it up, and they are doing it in plain sight.

Yes, but that's a situation with a slightly different procedural posture. In this case, the ruling of the 2nd circuit that competitor businesses have grounds to sue an active president for emoluments violations is good law and should be controlling going forward.

What a well thought out response that further informs us and counters my argument. I'm glad you could add to this.

Other asset classes do not provide the return or advantages of compounding interest. Sticking your money under your mattress loses you money due to inflation, along with the compounding interest thing. You could try with real estate but putting $100 in the market is different from coming up with a down-payment on a first home (which isn't a real retirement vehicle) let alone a second. It also requires much greater knowledge and effort. Bonds are in the shitter and most likely never coming back. Whats next, forex, art, wine?

loooot of boomers out there with no pension and <6 figs in their retirement accounts. It'll be solved in 4-5 years, around the time the average boomer hits 70 and realizes their funds have dried up and social security won't be enough to keep the homes they still have mortgages on

The suggested solution is one of the best as it also prevents capital from dipping their fingers in or otherwise swindling the ignorant.

They have created an end state in which the option to burn it down is increasingly becoming the one and only so gently caress off if I'm just a little unhappy with it.
