I have read a very convincing theory that he is actually the second Sub-Zero, Kuai Liang. This would make bringing this Cole Young character in make a lot more sense. Sub-Dos comes in and learns of his heritage just in time for the man whose family his brother killed to attempt revenge during the tournament. plus presumably at some point we’ll get to see Scorpion do a full Spear-to-the-Heart Fatality on Sub-Uno, who will come back in the sequel as Noob Saibot, because you shouldn’t waste as good a fight-actor as Joe Taslim. Noexcuse for the kinda dopey MK logo birthmark idea. Edit:

Based on that trailer, they're sticking really really close to the style of Shin Godzilla. Which was awesome, but not sure I need another couple hours of it. I know nothing about Ultraman beyond the SNES game though
