Just finished watching S2 of Fruits Basket. My partner recommended it to me and I enjoyed it a whole lot - Tohru is kind of a static lead but I really liked the rest of the cast. Hearing McGillis and Tentomon's VA play the role of an over-the-top fashionista was  That said, two things I weren't expecting:1) The love triangle stopped being one like halfway through S2. Yuki grew on me a lot (the scene where Aya comes to his rescue in the parents-teacher meeting was a favorite of mine) and it was a pretty interesting development, given that I expected this to continue for a long, long time. 2) The amount of abuse of all sorts that started to happen from the midpoint of S1 and onwards took me offguard. The episode where Kisa appears at first felt a lot like Appa's solo episode in ATLA - a brief aside with something to say about a serious real-life topic) but now it feels like it was a preview of what was coming. Overall, I really liked it and I can't wait to see what goes down in S3.

Speaking of I finished the manga just now cause Shonen Jump’s about to take the free scans down, poo poo goes by pretty fast after a certain point but still a great read imho. I kinda get why people dislike the ending, I don’t hate it but It does feel a little weak that Emma just meets everyone she doesn’t remember anymore and starts a new life with them, but tbh I can’t blame someone who was writing a comic book in early-mid 2020 to make their ending nicer

i watched s1 of kakegurui and am actually in a state of mild disbelief over how stunningly bad the season finale is the pseudo-philosophical drivel, the overcomplicated game setup that comes down to "take turns, draw 3 random cards", the complete explicit lack of any kind of strategy, the ridiculously lucky/unlucky draws, the fact that it ends IN A TIE. absolute dogshit.

the real final match of that arc got added into s2. changing it to not being the first climax of the story didn't help, but it was still good and really gay even by the standards of the show.

I kind of get the impression that part of why people even knew that previous Controversy Shows at least had notable production pedigrees that gave them some visual spectacle to appeal to more normie audiences, whereas The Bad Porn Show doesn't really and is just A Bad Porn Show.

also goblin slayer and shield hero had stuff resembling plot, premises, and character arcs where you could reasonably see someone being a fan of it even if they were put off by certain aspects of it, and you could take out or at least tone down some of those aspects and still have basically the same thing, whereas redo of healer basically has nothing but the revenge porn angle, and if you took that out it wouldn't exist. lots of reasons, really.
