Some of these people have clearly never been around dogs their entire lives. The pitbull that comes into the store and dudes are jumping over the counter are ridiculous.

I've never been to New York and only have the desire to visit once maybe. But godamn. It's pretty hard to try to visualize 200 years of hyper urbanized industrial runoff in one location. It makes me think of those ponds of pig poo poo in NC and other places that if you fall in you just loving die.

It's also like that, the water is so polluted and anaerobic the only thing that lives there is nasty bacteria. Every so often an animal will wander in and die. That said, it's not really much to look at, just a canal running alongside some otherwise unremarkable streets. The water isn't even a funny color.

That there were hundreds of millions of internal combustion engines. And how we drove along thousands of miles of roadway, inhaling those fumes while oil residue plastered itself to everything. *plays Red Barchetta*

bothers me that they went through this effort and barely affixed it radially to the wheel, so of course it comes loose instantly. there's like 13 black zipties keeping it attached, where it should be thousands.

There’s usually at least one shithead in a pit but in most cases the pit fixes that quick and it’s just a bunch of friendliness. Shows of some bands excepted but it’s generally pretty harmless. If you go down most pits are very eager to help you to your feet before you get trodden upon.

It's probably not objectively healthy but most crowd crush incidents involve a hard physical barrier, a different crowd pushing in the opposite direction probably isn't enough to kill you on its own

99% of mosh pits are full of people who are there to roughouse for fun, not hurt each other. One of the few concert memories I have is of some 40-year old dipshit trying to get people to mosh hard and he made the mistake of punching one of the security guys in the back of the head, resulting in the smoothest judo flip I've ever seen and the security guy sitting on the guy while they waited for someone to escort him out.

More bark than bite for sure. Like Phanatic said though, if someone is being a dick the crowd seems to self regulate itself with action against said rear end in a top hat.

Pits are generally mildly harmful fun. There's always some goober that absolutely does not belong that gets hurt but if you are intentionally being a shithead you are going to get wrecked Pit code is real

As a very sad mosher missing concerts bad as I continue to "age out" of moshing, there's no real danger besides a random rolled ankle or some douchebag with a little too much angst/anger. As binge mentioned falling over is typically a sign for several people to converge and literally YOKE the person off the floor by an elbow, shoulder, shirt collar, etc. before anything bad can happen in the way of trampling, kicking, etc. At one of the last shows I went to my brother dove into the pit and lost his glasses; I immediately jumped in and started searching with my flashlight and a bunch of people linked arms around me unprompted to keep me safe while I was poring over the ground. That being said at like 16 or 17 I went to a Terror show in a tiny club. Terror are like "WE'RE THE TOUGHEST TOUGH GUYS" hardcore and there were a handful of way too big maybe juiced up dudes in what amounted to the standing area on the side of a bar. That was the only time in my life I've stuck as far away from the pit as possible. There were some real meaty non-sexual contact in the pit that night. e - ha, everyone in with the mosh pit talk. I loving miss it for real. double e- Kith posted:One of the few concert memories I have is of some 40-year old dipshit trying to get people to mosh hard and he made the mistake of punching one of the security guys in the back of the head, resulting in the smoothest judo flip I've ever seen and the security guy sitting on the guy while they waited for someone to escort him out. this too. Security & pit etiquette tend to be very tight on protecting people looking to have a good time. At a Korn/Trivium/other bands mega-concert years ago (yeah, I know, but they were free tickets) at one point the pit spontaneously become a girl's only pit. I think Evanescence was playing or something so it just sorta.. happened. Some giant fat gently caress of a drunk dude wanders into the put and starts just slapping at the girls in there, like actively trying to be a dick. I don't think I've ever seen so many people gangpile on someone that fast. Security were coming not to stop him but to save him at that point. Worst I saw was a girl accidently catch an elbow to the nose. She was immediately escorted out by a bunch of friendly punks. Several of which were actually paramedics and got her sorted out. To bring it back around to OSHA I literally feel safer in a pit at a concert than a pit at work.
