The Deluxifier also sounds good, especially for the Black Blade since we can't lose it (permanently).
Oh, and the coffee plant of course.

So.

-Tchoblade for Deluxifier
-Gold Ink Scroll for Coffee Plant

Would swap something for the Jandit!® as well; but would rather keep what we have left.
Depending on what the airy potion does, it might even be counterproductive. :v:

i like these selections, maybe trade the blow for Jandit or perhaps before we do any trades we should see what the new category unlocks - i voted for intergalactic cause it sounds rad but whichever one gets opened should offer new items in that category?

We're not voting on actual trades yet, but I'm interested in the arete award - that's a +1 to our IQ, which is actually quite helpful, and it's D-rank so it'll probably be quite cheap. I also like the Deluxifier for either our suit or the black blade, the coffee plant for our fragile mental health, and the sword scroll to give us a physical option in combat besides blade majestueux. (We don't actually need to replace our suit at the moment - the webbing took it from DR 1 to DR 5, which is almost on par with Lucky Armor 777 - but an upgrade would still be nice.)

Arete award sounds amazing, so does thuderdraw (but our DX is not good enough to use it)
The 777 armor is hillarious but will probably kill us with anxiety over not being able to wear a suit again.
Whaler would be great, what with being a nodachi and all, but breaking on 12 is a big no-go.

I would love to drink a @ and get the arete award. Coffee plant is cool except we have nothing to brew coffee in, so.

Black August

Ohhhh, that is the NICEST thing I've had since I awoke. It's easily the best cup of coffee in this existence or the last. I don't have enough blood and brain to really grasp the coffee's potence, but I know it warms and soothes my troubled biology.

TYRANNY: [3%]
[+Joy]

Taking me further away from any deep meditation on the coffee is my eyes drifting over the menu, and the choices I want to make. I can't really... tell what the special stock shelves say exactly, so I point at the one stylized in black and white.

"Ahhh... fine pick. A rare chance, leatherskin."

The merchant seems much more relaxed now that he's had his brew, and the immediate death-tension has worn off. He shambles around, always with that gurgly wheeze under his shroud, checking levers and slides to make room for my top shelf choice. A compartment slides out of a hidden section along the top of the boat, as he brings down a large display case. It's made of some glossy black bugshell substance, with muted-white handles. He sets it up beside the selection he picked for me, and pops it open with bombast. It unfolds into a large display stand with a variety of weird things. The inside has black velvet, as well as dozens of small inset glass displays with miniaturized casino games. Roulette, cards, chess, slots... it makes me think of Blue.

Inside, there's a sinister looking black die, a plain black suit bag, a weird little palm-size slot machine, a baroque crystal bottle filled with something of gradient black, a tiny red needle, a bar-like hunk of some broken-off ebon material, a fancy gemstone playing card, and... looks like a steak in a special-sealed bag.

Well. I do have things to trade. The coffee's wonderful flavor affords me just enough time for clarity to make a trade. I got lucky- if I make good on a trade, I can walk away from this alive and maybe return another time. I need to get this over with and then make my way back to the Hideout. The coffee plant IS up for sale. Looking at the details, it says it comes with a little grind-brew. Probably no good for on-the-go, but just fine for the hidden room.

Time to decide.

So far I see this consensus.

Put up the Blow, Tchoblade, and Gold Ink Scroll for trade. Most desired items so far seem to be #1 the Coffee, followed by Jandit!®, the Arete Award, and finally the Deluxifier.

This is a rough trade less structured than most buys, and the character has no true merchant skill, but aren't being too fleeced either. The Tchoblade is the most valuable, with the Blow second and the Scroll third. Trading all three of those items would earn you an open three-item trade, meaning you could take all but one of those four top picks.

Before that's decided tomorrow morning however, check the new 3am update and see if there's anything that jumps out as a better trade option. Top shelf theme categories will ALWAYS be for sale once unlocked with Napp, while the normal wares mostly change each encounter.

[Not the worst pull, but not great either. Napp was a wildcard. If the first encounter doesn't end in tragedy thanks to poor rolls and reactions, he always ends up an all-game reliability of RNG wares. Sometimes he can make or break a onerun. His wares are always random each encounter, and he'll often offer something that's WELL outside of the pre-lategame paygrade with AAA, S, and even S+ items. Some evidence in the Blue Book suggests there is no true limit on what Napp can randomly generate to sell, with some absolutely wild examples. Sometimes he'll have an endgame sword for sale on the first meet, with JUST enough items and cash and good rolls to squeak in a trade for it. Usually though, even A and A+ items are out of reach during the opening Holy Valley.]

[The top shelf wares was another angle of RNG. The categories offered can change, with one or two categories replacing another at irregular points. Once unlocked, a category stays for all-game buy planning. They're almost always expensive items, gimmicks, or ones that require time to see fruition. Some were close to broken, at least for one Megalith or another, or certain difficult encounters. Having Aldebaran down in the Nuclear is a live saver. Anamelech's Wrap helped a lot with berserker tactics and Jandoubi. The Quintessence Cannon wasn't a bad backup for FP-heavy builds, and the Jar of Delisauce was mildly OP. Since a couple of Salty Tokens were missed, there was just the first-time offer of a random category unlock, and it landed on 3am.]

[No money and not a lot to trade so not a lot to get, but the Tchoblade does have a lot of buying power... after which came the fingers-crossed of getting back to the Hideout with minimal RNG threats before nightfall.]

DD: Fondly regard abomination.

Suitable has a lot of potential, but I don’t see anything to use it with immediately - unless we also get the chitin shard or gemwood cord, in which case we could get some seriously badass armour now and some good growth potential later. Portable Slot would be absolutely bonkers good if we had a reliable source of damage of an element of our choosing - it’s useless for now, but definitely something to keep in mind. Midnight Hour is our ticket to visit Ulthar - we’re definitely going to want it sooner or later. Redshift bit feels like a trap - we buy it, we lose it, we beat ourselves up over it. No idea what the Caesarino Steak would be used for. Ace of spades feels like it has amazing potential if we also had some way to nuke our opponents’ HT rolls, but right now I think any opponent we have enough trouble with to use it on would also have enough HT to pass the roll - we’d be better off with the Tchoblade.

I’m going to vote for Suitable, the Chitin Shard Gemwood Cord, and the coffee plant.

e: Actually, it opens up another option as well: if we get Suitable, we should put up the black silk and bloody silk for trade as well. The only reason we're holding onto those things is that they'll one day let us make a nice suit, and Suitable does that better!

Dumb question, but what would happen if we put our suit into the suitable? Would it stay the same or would it give us a new suit with the same properties?

And I can see Ace of Spades being good to off a Lord, or possibly the flying fortress that is now a lord's outer body (That is what Hunter has, right? A flying fortress style situation?)

Edit: Whatever we trade, we should focus on his "Deals of the day" before his special categories. Though I still vote for coffee plant. I guess Deluxifier is good too. If we can trade the red silk for the Suitable and feed the black silk into it, that works for me.

Like the Deluxifier, the Suitable does not work on all items, but does work on the majority. Truly essential items (like the Black Blade) can't be converted, and putting suits in the bag will simply make it act like a regular bag to protect a suit. It lists N/A for a Rank because the Rank of the suit the bag can create can vary- technically the bag isn't Armor, but a special item that produces Armor.
