There should be an option on NG+ to tell Harbinger you know what their dogshit plan and motives are and just hang up and leave

Credits roll.

That looks like someone took SweetFX or Reshade, activated everything, and then called it a day. Just like the worst Skyrim shader presets!

I think I posted about Jeanne d'Arc a few days ago in the RPG thread, I definitely liked it. Setting up chain-kills with your transforming units makes for a fun puzzle, the story is the best possible kind of over-the-top nonsense, and even if you get really powerful really easily, there's still some decent optional end game challenges.

Bioware is in no state organizationally to do an FF7R-style remake. That was never in the cards.

Waltzing Along posted:Bioware looks at the success of FF7R and says, naw too much work. Honestly when I first heard about the FF7 remake and the release date after they scrapped the version CyberConnect was making for them, I was like "this seems like a cash injection game." I still think the game is weirdly/poorly paced and noticeably rushed, but they did good on the parts they reeeally needed to nail, which I'm happy about, but after Bioware's last couple years this definitely feels like something for the team to do and try to recoup some losses and goodwill while the higher-ups try and figure out what the gently caress they actually want this team to be doing

lol what, do people want a ground-up mechanical remake of mass effect? to bring it in line with "modern shooter gameplay"? more triangles in face models? what would you even do

Shoot things, presumably.

why didn't they do a remake of God of War 2018 for the PS5, it's getting on in years, lazy "next-gen update"

Increasing investment by an order of magnitude to balloon the budget into the dozens of millions to make incremental improvements to shooter gameplay for the new audience of "gamers who are five to ten years younger"
|
# ? Feb 2, 2021 20:55 |

Yeah, let's be totally fair: doing a narrative remake would mean doing new writing and content which I think we can all agree we don't want Bioware doing given their recent efforts

I first played mass effect last year and I thought 3 was only a little worse than 2. And most of 3's story issues were at least partially due to 2 completely dropping the metanarrative and being a 40 hour sidequest

Man I wish I liked DQ11 because I love it when games have casinos where you get crazy endgame items Thinking about playing DQ8 now...
|
# ? Feb 2, 2021 21:13 |

Have you tried DQ9 yet? Less in the way of crazy casinos, but it has crafting that is nearly as good, procgen dungeons that can be shared between players and generate as being full of nothing but high-end metal slimes, and it's job-based like Final Fantasy 5.

RazzleDazzleHour posted:Man I wish I liked DQ11 because I love it when games have casinos where you get crazy endgame items if you didn't like 11 I'm doubtful you'd like 8. they're pretty similar, right down to the first real boss being a roadblock. it does have good casinos though and it's easier to craft above your pay grade than in 11

If nothing else, DQ8's biggest difficulty spike boss is also a climactic encounter with a major villain and not "random desert monster." It also doesn't have the Draconian Quest stuff to turn on and just make the game more tedious for no real benefit.

Frankly I rather liked Harder Monsters in DQ11. Made it so the game wasn't a pushover and I really didn't have to grind much (aside from a few levels at Slayer of the Sands), it just made it so the game remained a bit challenging throughout.

I might just be Bad At Dragon Quest but I thought the level of challenge was pretty much just right for most of the game without Harder Monsters. It was a chill time for most of the game but the bosses that were supposed to be a big deal still put up a fight, and by endgame/postgame there were some reasonably challenging fights.
