That happened with our beagle mix. We had to put our eskie to sleep and he was depressed for months after. Then we adopted a shelter dog who was super bouncy, and now the beagle initiates play and is a much happier dog. He's almost 14, though and his new brother is 9, so we're probably going to have to do this again sometime. Dogs should last longer.

One had to be put down (organ failure) and the other just..moped. I got majorly sick and couldn't do much, went into a depressive spiral so my folks surprised me with a cavoodle pup and ol' Billie came back alive again. Well, mostly, he's like 12 and lazy so he's still an old man that sleeps all day but he's a lot happier with little Wren around.

At least where I'm from, it's either illegal or toothless for anyone to ban pets, even if you signed a lease containing such a clause! Yay pets! Boooo landlords!
