Akuma posted:Observer was rad. The chasey bits were the worst part by far but there was only like... 3 of them? The atmosphere was great, very creative cyberpunk stuff. I didn't feel like Observer was very well-realized at all. It spent most of its time being a very confined and desaturated Blade Runner homage, then went into some undercooked body horror with monster-hide sections that are way worse than anything Frictional ever made us play through. Most of the character interactions are had through doors. The environmental puzzles are extremely esoteric (a holdover from Layers of Fear which also had extremely bad 'click the right random object' puzzles) and in general I thought the narrative was pretty uncompelling. SOMA it is not.

I get enough character interaction through doors in real life, I don’t need it in my games.

Akuma posted:It came out half way through the PS4's life. Are you thinking of something else? Did you play it? Yeah, I bought it on release. You're right it was 2017. I like this category of game, but Bloober Team has burned me one too many times. As far as quality judgements go I assume you're referring to one of the cyberpunk 2077 discussions where I speculated about the motivations of its developers over the years, and fairly accurately mind you. I've got a copy of 2077 waiting in my closet to be played when the dev gets around to fixing it. That quality judgement speaks for itself lol

I do think if the rumored Silent Hill licensing to Sony hasn't happened it will happen. The only segment on their business that turned a profit was their gaming, I am guessing the Yugioh mobile games and Soccer game contributed to that cause they have nothing else. Speaking of tags I do believe there was a Mass Effect one as well. I know a few people who had it back in the day. It was something to do with Asaris.

konami released a switch game you've never heard of in november that sold enough in a month and a half to wind up the #3 best selling console game in japan last year

It probably can't be done because they all have multiple difficulty options but Control's assist mode options would absolutely save the next Wolfenstein game for me.

I think the download is get around certain countries gambling laws or licence laws without having to make different sku. I get what you mean and the detail to it is loving insane, like it even mimics real world some machines further away from the door pay out more or something like that to encourage gamblers to keep gambling cos they'll have to walk by more machines if they try to leave. I kinda like it in tho as a slice of life aspect

a pachinko parlor is probably one of the most covid-unsafe environments i can even think of, maybe the hardcore addicts will stick around, but those probably have an income cut, and they're probably losing the mid-level guys as well rip to konami for focusing on short-term profit and cutting investment in long-term growth. wonder how much their yakuza ties are to blame
