I started watching Todd in the Shadows because of this thread and found out Liz Phair released an album where she raps. Todd's Trainwreckords series is really good.

Yea that's really depressing on how her career turned out. The one on Lauren Hill's unplugged is really depressing too. I have to see my parents again someday so I can show the video on CCR's Mardi Gras to my dad. He owned that album.

I forgot why but these were posted in the Trump thread in GBS

I like how even in 1999, how hostile the wider rap community still was towards white rappers. I guess at that point they still seemed like interlopers, lacking any street cred and still pretty corny. Bunch of suburban white dudes trying to act all hard when the biggest problem they had was not getting a N64 for xmas.

Also I don't know why they still seem to be making Kid Rock cool, who is literally the biggest poser ever. While poor MC Serch looks like a bad SNL Sketch about someones Jewish Grandpa rapping.

Someone mentioned ice cream and it started me on a path to an 80/90s finnish nostalgia hole.

These are still around actually, the idea is saturday is the week of the day kids can have candy, hence the name "saturday candy"

These where always a treat, had a core of chocolate, I also think they are around, or where brought back for retro appeal.

Retro ketchup bottles, man if they brought these back I might switch back from Heinz..

Old fashioned juice boxes, this is still in my head how a juice "box" ought to look.

Old fashioned ice cream, the 2nd one to the left gives me flashbacks to my grandma.

Ooh and Twix used to be called Raider. Aand that tube gum man, loved the heck out of that...

Non-Stop! Forgot those even existed, it's all M&M now.

Rally cola, these got removed in the 90s for being too similar coca cola and some legal shenanigans. Remember these fondly.

Recently made a comeback (via another company) and unfortunately it did not match my nostalgic expectations, I guess it's partly nothing real can match the idealized memory of the thing, and partly it was in a plastic bottle instead of a glass one.

Surely already posted, but 1992 wouldn’t be complete without Shakespears Sister. That song, 8 weeks as the UK number 1, remains an absolute banger though it felt like the band didn’t get properly respected at the time by serious music people.

Stumbled across this again this week, and struck by how I didn’t notice, and still can’t believe, Marcella Detroit was already 40 at the time of that video as 18 year old me was sure she was mid-20s. Also, just how much fun Siobhan Fahey vamping it up was, and how many goth girls must have been sexually awakened by that video.

It was posted earlier, but 100% Siobhan Fahey coming down the stairs awokened my absolute love of crazy goth ladies. She was also super drunk during the shoot so that's why she's so lose and stumbling around.

Totally was "Yep, that's what I'm into" when i saw it for the first time. I would have been 15 so yea, target market. Most goth ladies I know a bit younger than me, so most of them were turned onto the scene by late 90s NIN and Marilyn Manson, or the Crow. The soundtrack is what turned me onto the Cure and caused me to seek out Joy Division and that opened a whole new musical world for me.

If it tastes anything like a remember it, it almost certainly is. Though I feel like the recipe has been used and tweaked under different names, kind of like all those branded cereals such as Threepi-O's and Nintend'O's were the same cereal just with different shapes. I think Golden Peaks Green Tea is kind of similar?

I often use instant ramen bricks to make more elaborate and involved Asian noodle soups but I generally save the broth packets to toss on popcorn (or whenever I need an additional umami burst in like a sauce or soup or whatever, they’re great for that. I’ve heard of people putting them in mac+cheese for a “truffle like” effect).

There’s still something kind of perfect about a really cold Capri Sun. Like, warmer Capri Sun is decent and room temp Capri Sun is still less saccharine and cloying than a lot of other juice drinks are/were, but there’s something about Capri Sun when it’s at like 33-35 degrees Fahrenheit and it doesn’t have any ice formed in it and it’s just at the platonic ideal of coldness where it’s maybe one of the single best drink experiences you can have. And then the pouch sizes are always small enough (even like the big ones, which I never got) where you’re left at the right point of satisfaction and wanting more. It’s not like an Arizona drink where it just keeps on offering up beverage until it’s hot and you’re full and you kind of hate it. No, Capri Sun is like the Seinfeld of juice drinks, it leaves you at the top, before you can get sick of it. Why yes I still purchase Capri Sun on occasion what of it.

That reminds me of my experience with Sobe, how every flavor but the Green Tea was cloying and even the tea one was sweet as hell. The new formulation tastes a lot more like Lipton green tea and less like the original flavor, which was “sweet and green”.
