mysterious frankie posted:The tension, as his gesticulations become more violent and unpredictable, is too much to bear. There has to be something in the range of $4-600 worth of liquor- to say nothing of the glassware- on display and I kept waiting for him to Chris Farley through the lot while reaching for glass in the sixth row. None of those bottles are really that expensive depending on where you are. Fancy Vermouths are pretty forgivingly priced and none of those Rye's cost more than $40. I'll bet you could get all that at BevMo or Wine Warehouse for around $250. I've never watched his channel before but I find that surprising. Not because of his spirits knowledge. He didn't know where half those Rye's were from. What he did at 44:20 (sorry forgot how to timestamp YT vids) is a pro move. It usually takes a decade on the job for your spider sense for a bottle drooping near you to be that fast while you're black out drunk.

His dumb nerdy stuff is fun, I generally don't watch his "serious" mixology stuff like this video. There's some sort of weird kismet between this thread and that video though, it was my last video watched when it was brought up in this thread, and when I went to check the timestamp you provided, I was queued up to 44:29, right when he goes "WHHHOOOOAAAA" after catching the bottle.

There is some dude on the forums who knows everything about bananas and I’m sure there’s an effort post of theirs that can be linked to whenever this comes up. It starts by them saying those bananas in the picture aren’t that colour and don’t taste of ice cream. Plystemon or something maybe?

Getting seven bottles of rye and six bottle of vermouth would be... a lot many dollars here.

I live in SF and that bottle of Rittenhouse (my favourite of the bunch) is $17 at the bodega down the street. The two most expensive, Michter's and High West cost $35 and $38 respectively at my local fancy grocery store. To be honest with any spirit the sweet spot is in that price range. I don't buy anything more expensive unless it's limited batch.

I stand by my assertion that that was a very expensive table and it was nerve wracking to watch him swinging his big drunk arms around it.
