UP THE BUM NO BABY posted:No. It was the second attempt at starting the Monsters Universe. The first attempt was Dracula Untold The Mummy is a Universal property. Technically, the Fraser movies were a reboot of the black and white movies, and the Cruise one was supposed to be an attempt to make the Universal monsters into a dumb Marvel thing.

I liked Russel Crowes take on Dr Jekyll, which was "gets dark circles under eyes, talks in cockney accent, is now Hyde". At least he didn't buttfuck anyone to death like that other Mr Hyde.

Have any DMs ever tried to run their fantasy world on the same system as the actual pre-1971 British currency?? It was 12 pence to a shilling, and 10 shillings to a pound. The dumbest poo poo ever

Retrowave Joe posted:Agreed. For those wondering, “he'd required almost seven years of surgery as a result of his action movie stuntwork, including a laminectomy, bolting on his spinal pads, and a partial knee replacement. But, he said, it was the alleged assault that led him to retreat from public life.” This is why people getting pissy about actors using stuntpeople is so stupid. It's just one of those fragile masculinity things like method acting where performatively suffering for your art to show everyone how tough and devoted you are is still a thing even when everyone should know better.

I got frustrated with the Miller translation of the Phenomenlogy of Spirit because I didn't like the way the German was being interpreted. The Terry Pinkard translation I think tries to be more faithful to the original so if I was going to go back to it I'd probably work my way through that. Hegel is hard to translate to English. For instance in the Miller translation of the Science of Logic the common German word "Dasein" is rendered "Determinate Being". The DiGiovanni translation translates the same word by the less ornate "Existence" but runs into trouble later when Hegel uses "Existenz" which he must translate as "Concrete Existence". One of my bugbears is when some translations use Latin words like "qua" for "als" and "ego" for "ich" because it gives a misleading impression. Hegel for the most part wrote using ordinary German words.

The dumbest poo poo ever I used to post on Dragonsfoot, a 2e and prior forum, and yes, a few people worked in absolutely insane currencies to the detriment of their own games. Also, in 1e coins were 10 to a pound, but 2e made them 50 to a pound so it was possible to carry more, and their value to weights made a little more sense. 2e had them all metric (1pp = 10gp = 100sp = 1000cp), but 1e was like the picture shown earlier, though a lot of people houseruled it to make it easier.
