Today I learned: out of the 5 countries in the Indochina peninsula, only Vietnam celebrate lunar new year. The other 4 countries celebrate their new years in mid April. Huntington was totally right when he put Vietnam as part of the Sinic civilization and the other 4 in their own Buddhist civilization. Also, Japan kind of moved their new year rituals from the Chinese calendar to the Gregorian Calendar Jan 1st. Is Japan the only country that has the biggest holiday in Jan 1st?

The Japanese actually perform their religious rituals and go back to the countryside to do family union in Jan 1st. That's like rolling Christmas + Thanksgiving or lunar New Year + Moon festival into one.
