They're also making an MGS movie starring Oscar Isaac  I appreciate these Star Wars actors making bank while the iron is hot but no way any of these video game adaptations are gonna be good I mean, they only stuck the landing with five out of seven Resident Evil movies no way that luck holds

I don’t mind MGS as a movie since that seems like something that ‘98 kojima would want. he also would get to hang out with oscar issac so he’s probably stoked. should’ve adapted one of his Saturn games though.

I have some hope in the TLOU show based on Craig Mazin’s involvement. Chernobyl is one of the best shows of the past couple years, after all. And obviously that cast is killer. It still doesn’t really feel necessary to me, but I’ll definitely be watching

BP when you did your PS3 reflow, how long did it live afterwards (did you use it much)? Cause the more I read, the more anxious I get. There seems to be a lot of people saying it's a temporary fix if you don't go through with a reball at the same time (a process that requires a professional).

Uncharted 3 killed it both times. I am rather confident that I hosed up the reflow by applying too much thermal paste though, and that it would've lived longer if I'd done more research and watched a few more vids. A little goes a long way. But yeah, that was like 10 years go, and I eventually just got a PS3 slim which is alive to this day and is my primary blu-ray player. Wonderful machine.

you can't really gently caress up a system with too much thermal paste, worst case scenario it just makes a mess. sadly reflowing is kind of just a myth, apparently the act of heating up the chip is what brings it temporarily back to life, the solder balls have little to do with it. i've heard people get a couple months out of a reflow though, if that's useful. basically what im saying is bp don't blame yourself you did everything you could.

You’re not the first person I’ve seen say they use their PS3 as largely a blu-ray machine now. Are the blu-ray capabilities especially better than with later PlayStations, or is it disc gamers not wanting to take a game out of their PS4/5 to put a movie in?

I think the PS3 allows you to just play discs without having to basically boot into another OS which is what it feels like the PS4 does lol
