I love Nobara but holy poo poo, Maki using her weapon like that slapped really hard.

That's a "Perfect amount of fucks to give" attitude if I ever saw one.

I feel bad for Miwa there because Mai's grudge-based assessment of Maki just straight-up fucks her over

Probably a grade 2 Sorcerer as she would be able to easily handle grade 2s. And Sorcerers are for the most part ranked by the strongest type of Curse they can easily handle.

I mean, the head good guy authority figure is Gojou whose stated goal is burning down the current system because it's complete poo poo, and said current system wants the protagonist killed, so I struggle to see think that the show thinks the current good-guy faction are all that good. "Better than the villains" is the highest bar the current system can climb over, and that one is buried underground.

You joking tons of people are scared of the Forest. Which is what Hanami represents not plants.

Jougo mentioned that the Disaster curses had a boss, maybe said boss is the fear of the sky and storms.

I guess when you put it that way it makes more sense, but when people are scared of forests it's more the whole lost, isolated, and starvation (and wild animals) thing and not so much getting harpooned on a tree branch, which is probably why it didn't click in my brain

I still find it interesting how Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu had the same basic premise for the main antagonists. You don't get many overlapping fears between them, but there's at least one case I can think of where they both had the same fear for a reasonably prominent opponent.

(Also, the protagonist of Chainsaw Man works as a lumberjack part time at the start of the series. He also lost an eye, but I'm pretty sure that was unrelated.)

Forest horror is it's own genre for a reason. The Blair Witch Project wasn't scary because of a witch you never saw. Something about a repetitive landscape that makes it hard to find your bearing while hiding a new threat behind every trunk can really get to people.

There is a very :nms: video out there where a guy is trimming a large branch that swings weird as it falls and hits him in the face hard enough to lift him off his feet. Next shot is him at the doctor's where his face between his eyes and mouth is practically on a hinge and barely attached. Trees need to be respected man.

I live in the South, so there's a whole genre of horror set in my backyard.

I happen to be afraid of being crushed, and trees are just about the most common thing that could do it. "Am I surrounded at all times and sides by big trees?" is a potential dealbreaker when considering homes.

Me and my hubby went out to dinner w a friend and his mom recently cuz she was in town. She lives in Jersey and Hubby mentions always wanting to see the Pine Barrens and the first thing she brought up is how many bodies get dumped out there.

Also helps that the fights are extremely well done although I dunno if that's something they can keep up for hundreds of episodes

I mean, this is a seasonal anime, so it's not as big a worry. This is going to be run like MHA, not like Black Clover. Mappa's finishing these 12 episodes, then switching over to other shows.

Means the animation collapse isn't inevitable.

(Also, there's not even enough material for a hundred episodes yet, let alone hundreds. )

Well that's good! I dunno from what I saw it looked like the manga was popular enough it's going to be one of those long running ones but yeah if its seasonal then I just look forward to enjoying it all and then forgetting about it until they're somehow on season 4
