I'm also willing to bet that sleazy republicans that are calling witnesses are hoping it'll make the democrats look bad, but in reality it's a definite monkey paw situation. just want to reiterate that a vote for witnesses is not carte blanche for all witnesses anyone wants, they all have to be voted on the worst they can actually do is annoy all the other senators by making them vote down a bunch of stupid witnesses

Not everything he could testify to would necessarily be self-incriminating.

No. Any time that you're being compelled to answer and your answer would be the confession of a crime, you can take the fifth. That said, it still wouldn't hurt to bring Trump in. If he's innocent and it was a perfect speech, then these are trivial questions to answer.
