Only two contestants left! Here is Doom's chance for revenge...

The wife and I stopped watching WandaVision week in/week out by episode 3 since not enough was happening.

We had intended to wait until all episodes were out before binging them. But we cracked last night. Huge uptick in quality after episode 3.

A few things I noticed

1) At one point they ask Jimmy what's Wanda's name and he's like Wanda Maximof. Any others, and he is like nope.

I assume that's about how she is also the Scarlet Witch, but does anyone call her that in the films?

2) When Wanda goes to get Vision's dissected corpse spread out over tables, it looks like the scene from West Coast Avengers drawn by John Byrne which made him look like a cut apart skeleton.

3) At the start of the episode Pietro has a crude tattoo drawn on his arm by the boys. I think it's either MOM or (more likely) HOM. AKA House Of M.

Wanda can't bring people back to life, so she stuffed her Pietro's memories and character into a conveniently placed alternative universe's shell.

Interesting. They must have deliberately decided to keep it* since films usually block actors tattoos. Like how Nicholas Cage had to have makeup cover his Ghost Rider tattoos, in Ghost Rider.

Also I'm calling it now, Agatha's husband is going to be Ralph.
Ralph Isto.

* = Not saying they left it in as a clue to something. Just that they decided to let the tattoo stay on screen.

Yeah, I feel like this was definitely supposed to be a hint to the audience that she'll be earning that name pretty soon here in this series, or that there is witchcraft afoot in general.

It's been a long time since I've watched Age of Ultron but I think Maria Hill says Wanda and Pietro's full names (which yes, are Maximoff) when she's giving the Avengers a mission brief about them.

This is only the case when they think it's something most of the audience might know or be distracting or it doesn't make sense. I always think of Henry Rollins playing a high ranking officer in a Nazi biker gang in sons of anarchy who had a giant Black Flag tattoo on his neck. That poo poo made no sense, but most people just looked at him and saw a biker man, not knowing what that logo was.

Anyway I know that everyone doesn't want Mephisto or whatever but right now I'm operating at 420% certainty that "Pietro" is gonna turn out to be Mephisto, and Evan Peters is gonna end up playing him in the MCU going forward. All of Pietro's lines just make so much more sense if you imagine him as a smarmy, free-wheeling trickster devil character who's enjoying the chaos and discord all this is sowing, is provoking Wanda to go even further with it ("I'm impressed!"), and is developing a notable relationship with her kids.

Yeah that seems most likely. He showed up to stop an argument between Wanda and Vision that could've resulted in Wanda ending the Hex, and is now actively trying to displace Vision in the family. And it would explain the fourth wall stuff like the fact that he looks like X-Men Pietro and the comic costumes. There is a new source of information that is affecting the Hex, a multi-dimensional being who is aware of the Fox X-men universe and the comic universe.

Obviously Henry Rollins was playing a character who is not Henry Rollins, a real person who exists in Sons of Anarchy, duh!

If Henry Rollins appears in Sons of Anarchy he would be played by someone else and it would get a quip about how he looks familiar or something.

Yeah but let's say only the original, pre-Rollins black flag exists even. Why does a Nazi have a giant neck tattoo of a leftist punk band?

The RZA was in the movie American Gangster, which is a period piece. There is a scene of him where you can clearly see a Wu Tang Clan tattoo on his arm.

Mask vs Mask (or Hair for guys already mask less) are a big deal in lucha libre. Guys lose their masks permanently for the rest of their career.

As an alternative, they make movies where skinny Japanese men get injected with super chemicals to turn into 50 foot tall Kota Ibushis to fight kaijus.

I really think more attention needs to go to the title sequences the last two weeks. I'm not as all-in on the Pietro-is-Mephisto train, but his 'and starring' bit in this week's opening has him throwing the horns in a freeze-frame which could easily be seen as foreshadowing.

And the lyrics this week were stuff about not fighting chaos (magick?) and not questioning the things you've done.

EDIT: Is it possible the Incredibles nod on the theatre marquee was a background gag considering Vision's cape was basically leashing him to the Hex at one point. Like, I definitely heard Brad Bird yelling "NO CAPES!" in my head.

Is anyone else annoyed by the standard symphonic MCU opening? I just feel like for a show that is so unique to the MCU but also has its own (parody) opening credits, it just feels really out of place. The quick "flipping comic book pages" used in AOS and the Netflix-verse would be much better. Or at least let the show do its own thing with the sequence, like how Spider-Man: Homecoming did.

The 'flipping pages' was Marvel Television's thing. This is Marvel Studios. (ie Loeb and Perlmutter have jack and poo poo to do with these shows)

I understand that. I just think thematically it would be way less distracting to use something like that then the symphonic MCU theme. It just takes me out of the moment after the cold open.

Going straight from seeing Clint's family being wiped out to Tony and Nebula in space would've been a little awkward, so I think including the modified studio logo with Dear Mr. Fantasy playing over it instead of the usual fanfare worked as a transition. imo of course.

Well, because white emotionless Vision is loving dumb and terrible. Like I'm not a huge Vision fan to begin with and that's the worst version of him, and I kinda think the people that like Vision would agree with me.

Oh let's have Paul Bettany in even worse makeup and not be allowed to emote at all, this is clearly the way to go with his character.

Well it doesn't have to be permanent, I think it would be better than him just dying again and just as tragic. Maybe then she can do the whole travel to the underworld to find his soul trope, but this time you know, it's a female hero saving a man for once, I don't know.
