Hyrax Attack! posted:I went to college in a fairly conservative area, and it was surprising to learn how big of a deal Rush was. He’d carefully repeat the names of New Democrats his listeners needed to hate, and when I went to a friend’s house saw the Rush newsletter on their coffee table. Later knew a guy who routinely listened to the whole show every day and barely thought about it. Eye opening to see that’s he’s not just a radio guy but had a massive propaganda operation that was a huge part of people’s lives. I had my former step dad, who was as conservative as you would expect a lifelong oil and gas engineer to be, making me listen to it in the car and telling me how Rush was comedy in 2008 or so. He then asked ny opinion about whichever garbage computer security software Rush was shilling for, and got upset when I gave a technical breakdown of what was wrong with it

e: nm e2: VVV so this post isn't entirely useless, I would always say if someone has to justify the person they're listening to is "only joking," then it wasn't much of a joke in the first place, and I don't know why they still listen to them since they aren't laughing either. This seems to be most common with conservative humor come to think of it. As Nero Danced fucked around with this message at 21:07 on Feb 17, 2021 |

It's always "well, they're just an entertainer!" when proven incontrovertibly wrong, yet every word is taken as the gospel truth up until then. And folks are increasingly resistant to accepting truth, up to and including their "entertainer" publicly recanting and admitting being wrong ("well, they were just forced to say that by the globalists!"). There's a degree to which the same occurs across the political spectrum and folks should be vigilant about calling out that kind of thinking wherever they see it, but it's vastly more prominent on the right.

Tell anyone who listened to Rush as "comedy" to listen to Cum Town. Their reaction will tell you everything you'd need to know.

I really don't get it, there has to be some weird pathological poo poo going on with Biden to be this obstinate about student loan forgiveness. There's zero logic to it and little to no political gain as far as I can see.

The next financial crash is coming, an *engineered* one this time, and they're going to use it to finally kill off the middle class. Forgiving $50k in student debt would be too helpful to people whom they see as future serfs.

It long ago whored it's commerical laws out to corporate interests. There's a reason why companies all over the US are Delaware corps and every business law class spends half it's time on the Delaware code and chancery court decisions.

No sales/personal property/inheritance taxes, the legal structure is hyper-friendly, and you can be secret as all hell. A lot of that stuff is likely going to be hit by the recent NDAA banning a lot of secretive shell companies, so things may shift in the near future. Until then, Delaware is the American Panama for companies.

You form a company in Delaware when you want to go public. There are plenty of states that offer private corporations as much or more benefits to Delaware. For public companies, though, Delaware is the default for ease of investment and uniformity of laws.
