I'm not sure how WB not firing Gadot for a totally separate issue has anything to do with Disney firing Carano.

Oh, I just brought it up because before Gadot was cast Carano was a constant fan cast idea for Wonder Woman, and Gadot has different, but also very terrible terrible opinions. You are correct that there's no direct connection.

Edit: phone posting so correcting some spelling/grammar errors.

I really hope Gina Carano's new project is just a Mandalorian rip off, where she has to carry Lil' Ben around the whole time to keep him safe from Antifa.

I wouldn't watch it, but I'd be highly amused.

She could maybe do it in Nevada. A lot of people still don't know her dad is GM of Circus Circus and some related big Vegas casinos.

Oh man, really? I know Circus Circus because it’s Jerma’s favorite casino, probably due to his bizarre clown fixation. Knowing it’s actually a piece of poo poo would make that so much funnier.

Yeah. Glenn Carano played in the NFL and is worth several million dollars and also runs the Eldorado and the Silver Legacy so when she was talking about the 'working class' briefly all those in the know just shook their heads.

enough people have died at circus circus via suicide or murder that it's an attractive draw for ghost hunters.

It's specifically the one in Vegas he likes IIRC but that's still hilarious.

Those HUGE CLOWN PAINTINGS in the lower ballroom levels are portals to hell and I will not hear otherwise. Also the hallways in the main building of the hotel look like they go on forever. I stayed across the street in some annex of the hotel one year going to EVO, friends and I tried to do Vegas cheap. Never again, gently caress that place. It's Elite King suites or nothin at the Mandalay Bay from now on whenever I decide to hit up Vegas again when it's not so much of plague times. The "amusement" park hurts your eyes in midday due to the nuclear pink reflective glass dome, everything is pink nothing loving works. I don't know what managing casinos is worth (probably a lot!) but to be fair when he played in the NFL (he was under contract from 1977-1983, but didn't actually play at all in 1977) the league minimum was something like $22,000 a year, the average was $50-60k, and only the absolute top players were making more than like $200k a year. Gina Carano was born in his second to last year in the NFL, before he spent one last year in the USFL, where most players were making $35-50,000 a year, less than he made for any of his six seasons in the NFL but probably not that much less.

Anything in that range of salaries would be comfortably middle class, probably upper-middle class by 1980s standards, but by the time Gina Carano turned 3, the USFL team her dad was playing for folded and he was out of a job. The next year he started working in the casino business and has been there ever since, at some point I am sure he got full-on rich, but it's possible that when she was a kid the Carano family was not living high on the hog.

Though reading more about this, Glenn Carano's dad and uncle were the principle investors behind the El Dorado and the casino chain he now manages, so never mind, it's incredibly unlikely her family didn't have a substantial safety net even if her dad was out of a job for a spell when she was younger.

Mostly I just think it's interesting to note how many MLB/NFL/NBA players from the relatively recent past didn't make all that much money, considering how sky-high the contracts are now.

But yeah, add this to the pile of disingenuous poo poo from Gina Carano.

I mean the honest truth is that there isn't one. Gambling sort of requires preying on human misery to be successful. You don't become a casino guy unless you are absolutely A-OK with the idea of making your money by goading people into spending more than they can afford while minimizing how much you give out.
