How? Also did they make that stupid HBO series with John Turturro because of that dumb podcast?

I can’t listen to the cadence of Ira Glasses voice.

Today...on this American life....I talk to....butts about.....poop.

Basically the case the prosecution made was dumb and required him to have gotten from one place to another in an impossible short time, and used really iffy cell phone tracking data that didn't even fit their won story. But when you get down into the actual events of the day, it becomes increasingly clear that "Syed did it" is the only story that makes sense. To the point that by the end in order to create some possible alternative they find some random murderer from a town over who also killed a teen Asian girl and are like, "OK but what if this guy was a serial killer who drove over, killed her, and then drove back and nobody noticed?"

I also want my podcast tastes reviewed, and any recommendations as well.

Pocket Casts says I have 82 days listened over the course of, I don't know, a few years. My subscribed podcasts are all added to a queue; the really good ones, or the ones that should be heard daily, are put at the top of the queue, so I hear at least most of them every day. The rest are put at the bottom of the queue, so I may or may not hear them, because old episodes taken off the queue when a new episode of the same podcast comes out.

This was a system that worked very well when I worked in an accounting office. Now that I teach at a middle school, it's frowned upon for me to listen to podcasts while on the job, so a lot less of the bottom-queue podcasts are getting heard.

eh.... as mentioned their impressions are real bad, and they aren’t as funny as they think they are and it’s a lot of nonstop laugh track with little less tidbits or things about the movie. still one of the better movie podcasts I found but they’re best used when stuck in a 2 hr car commute and you’re tired and don’t want to waste a good episode of something better like trueanon

it’s largely my filler slot and even then rather rarely do I put it on unless I’m out of other stuff/don’t want historical-current eventsy stuff, or feel like hearing particularly about movie

btw the first 6-7 episodes of the Russian season of Revolutions is the single best primer on Marxism that's both detailed and simple. I've had several friends who are "progressive" but not leftist listen to it and seems to have started the radicalization process

Real answer: I used to like it years ago, but Dan's radical centrism and the go-to analogies he always uses started to grate on me. If you do like that style of history podcast be sure to give Inward Empire a listen.

Nice! I tried starting revolutions a while back but I hated the short episodes. I’m usually driving long distances when I podcast so I like to have at least an hour long episode. 2 hours is the prime target.

excellent, I will add that one for sure. thanks. Dan's politics don't bother me, especially in the pre 19th century seasons. That man loves history and it's infectious. His common sense poo poo is stupid

Common Sense is a comedy podcast, albeit unintentionally. I liked the WWI series, even if it's sensationalized. Endquote.

Also, I don't understand why every post in here isn't about the best podcast, Radio War Nerd. I understand there's already a thread for it, but we should also make this thread solely about it.

John Dolan has given me enough free content over the years that I am happy now to fund his adventurers traveling the world. Getting stuck in Italian bathrooms, being afraid to eat a bus stop sandwich in Albania, staring morosely at the Irish Sea, RWN truly has something for everyone.

Oh I'm sure, but $20+ a month is way too much to add to my Patreon budget when every other podcast I have on there is only $5 a month. Not all of us in here are making the big computer toucher bucks

There doesn't seem to be a ton of detail on early Russian socialist stuff tbh. Its always just kind of an off-hand mention of like, 'oh yeah this Left-SR organizer spent some time in prison for assassinating Tsarist officials and bombing a train station' and its like how does nobody want more detail no that?!
