My Accounting Of The Actual True And Real Events Of Russiagate (I Assume)

The pisstape events happened, less as part of a Top Secret Plan To Control The President Of The United States Decades Later By Those Wily KGB Supermen than as a routine attempt to get leverage on a rich person.

It was then determined that blackmailing Donald Trump was useless since he has the attention span of a goldfish and intelligence to match, and that he was much more easily controlled by telling him he was a great guy and making sure no one else talked to him after you did. Unfortunately for Russia, everyone else knew this too.

There were a few obvious 'hacking' attempts done specifically and solely to sow distrust in American institutions and fear.

Barron recorded anime over the actual pisstape a few years ago.

the difference is that trumps plan undermined nato by just deciding to do it on our own

People are replying to that Tapper tweet "does Biden need Bernie's permission every time he needs to piss". I mean, if doing that would be something extremely out-of-the-ordinary, they might have a point, but I was assuming that consulting with senators beforehand is normal procedure to ensure a nomination's success, given the way that Tapper mentioned it

tbf regardless of all the bullshit surrounding it, it is still a little concerning that many people can be convinced to fly to DC and breach police lines to enter the capitol

Among the plains tribes in North America, there was the concept of counting coup. This involved making your way to an enemy and striking a blow against them then escaping unharmed. This could be an actual strike, but could also be just touching them with a stick (a coup stick), a hand, whatever. Because of the danger involved, it won the warrior prestige and bolstered the morale of their side, while also demoralizing the other side (since if he'd wanted the attack to be deadly, it could have been.) After a battle, warriors would recount to their tribe their coups, which would be recorded through notches on a coup stick (or sometimes other methods, depending on the tribe and its traditions.)

As far as I'm concerned, that's the real danger 1/6 represents. It was a coup, but not a coup d'etat - and any suggestion that it was is absurd on its face. But it was a coup of the counting coup variety. It's being able to go back to your alt-right/q-anon/stage 2 fasc message board and brag about how you locked yourself in the bathroom and forced the police to negotiate with you while you jerked off. It's about taking goofy photos of yourself stealing the podium from which some of the most powerful people in the world deliver their speeches. It's all the, yes, lulz that these chuds managed to achieve and then brag about to their peers.

It's a morale victory that makes them feel strong. And in that sense, it's dangerous - made moreso by figures like Schumer or AOC likening it to 9/11 or even loving Pearl Harbor :wtc:

It's addressed later in the article

quote:

It is not clear why the sanctions proposal, which former officials said was ready to go by early January, stalled at the end of Trump’s term. But the former president was notoriously reluctant to penalize the Kremlin or confront Vladimir Putin directly, and the sanctions package would have required his approval.

See this speculation obviously implies that it is completely Trumps fault.

quote:

Ryan Tully, who served as Senior Director for European and Russian Affairs on the NSC in the final six months of the Trump administration, said U.S. sanctions will be a key next step — along with working to end Nord Stream 2, an export gas pipeline running from Russia to Europe across the Baltic Sea that Biden has so far resisted imposing further sanctions on. Germany in particular is bullish on Nord Stream 2, complicating multilateral action, especially as the U.S. tries to repair relations with German Chancellor Angela Merkel following tense relations in the Trump era.

“Sanctioning Russia using the CBW Act, Magnitsky Act, and/or EO 13382, for the poisoning of Alexei Navalny is an important step in that it reinforces the global norm against chemical weapons use,” Tully said. “Ultimately, these tools won’t change Putin’s calculus or behavior however. Putting a stake in the heart of Nord Stream 2 could, and would, drain billions from Putin’s coffers.”

You don't say? I still don't see anything about sanctions on Europe or Germany thou, because how else do you plan on stopping that pipeline?
