"Mr Woods suffered significant orthopaedic injuries to his right lower extremity that were treated during emergency surgery," he said.

"Comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones were stabilised by inserting a rod into the tibia.

"Trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg required surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure due to swelling."

Cut the fascia over the muscle so it can swell and not cut off the blood supply, to avoid compartment syndrome like the previous poster said.

Maybe what we are calling "long COVID" is really a lingering viral load that is super small, but for whatever reason the immune system can't knock it out? That would explain why the vaccine helps, it would teach the body exactly how to get rid of the remaining viral load?

Or

COVID is more of a superbug than we believe and we are in for a hell of a ride.

My recollection of the Moment where i Was about to have my shin sawed apart on the operating table was that there was a very impressive array of power tools and drills arranged next to me as the anaesthesiologist was fixing my veins up, and I ended up being more interested in the kickin-rad high i was about to receive.

After the like 15 general anesthesias I've received in my lifetime, I've come to enjoy shooting the poo poo with the anaesthesiologist just before getting knocked out by them.

I once even encountered an anaesthesiologist that had never themselves had a general anesthesia, and my last words to them were "you don't know what you're missing".

My conversation with the friendly indian anaesthesiologist-lady before having my poo poo sawed apart included a discussion of the different staggered cocktails she would launch into my veins, and she was cool enough to give me a countdown before the individual shots.

When she told me that I would be receiving a dose of Propofol, our last exchange included me smiling like an idiot and talking about how "that's what killed Michael Jackson".

Our general anaesthetic experiences are WAY different. My family has this bizzarro genetic thing that makes us metabolize anything they use to knock us out quickly, same for pain meds. This makes the conversation very anxiety filled making sure the doc read all the notes and has a plan.
