As for me, if I saw wires coming up like that I'd be stopping and being all like "what the fuckin poo poo is this"? Your job sounds like an ideal candidate for "daylight before you drill".

Dowsing works like executive MBAs. Someone asking "why thing not done, my metrics are bad" or deciding to drill baby drill cause the sticks crossed can be great business process lubrication. In specific circumstances where fail fast works though otherwise maybe you should be taking your time.

They just ran a new line to my cable box a few weeks ago and a couple of guys were out marking where stuff is. They were running electricity through pipes and whatnot then using some sort of dowsing rod looking thing to detect and follow it. In the past all the little colored flags just appeared one day, kind of neat to see how they actually do it. This also showed me that thanks to lovely landscape management and the powers of erosion that my gas line is soon going to be sticking out into my pond and I feel like that is maybe bad?

Yeah, propellers are designed to work in one direction, they do work in reverse, but shittily, so if you have one engine full ahead and one full reverse you're not going anywhere, you're also going to have fuckall rudder authority (you won't be able to steer worth a poo poo)
