I have to admit I haven’t made it through the new series. I put it on at night and it puts me right the gently caress to sleep. In the interview he makes the point halfway that I think is most pertinent which is that the two parties or the two forces left and right have “failed” to accomplish anything. He characterizes this as both sides failing as opposed to a state of dynamic equilibrium the the tug of war rope not seeming to move. The other thing he briefly touched was the idea that the system wasnt working - either the political or in the idea that computers can’t make predictive models for society. IMO the system is working, just not for you. It’s working for the people who own it. Will it forever? Of course not. But what we see as a series of existential crises of the economy and government really aren’t - they’re Ross Perot’s giant sucking sound as the Union jobs are all exported and replaced by nothing.

Excellent ep. I should rewatch Hypernormalization. I didn't really get it in 2016, but Can't Get You Out of My Head was like getting shook by the shoulders by the author.

I feel that much like in his films the name Jeremy Corbyn looms heavy and unanswered. Or any left wing leader with some groundswell around them.

I haven't finished watching all the eps yet. Is it worth finishing before listening for those that did both?

The ideal scholarly podcast would be Richard Wolff, reading slips of paper handed to him by Zizek, being laughed at by Liza Featherstone.
