Also the midterm election day is 87 weeks, 5 days from today. Campaign season will start in a year. Even if COVID is fully under control in a year, it's going to be something that just loving happened not like a distant memory people will shrug off. The Republicans are probably going to make every single campaign ad about how Joe Biden hosed up COVID and crashed the economy, Joe Biden and the Dems stole money that they promised from hardworking Americans because they hate freedom, etc. when they're not busy trying to goose up some culture war. Trump could literally make a campaign speech for Republican senate and house candidates that you should vote for them because at least they didn't lie about the checks like Joe Biden did and it would be true.
