The new EPCOT entrance is beautiful. If they do the rest of the changes this well, EPCOT will be amazing

I wouldn't hold your breath. I think the entrance was budgeted in the same years as Galaxy's Edge. Everything else except Guardians is coming in post-COVID budgets.

Hopefully the change to Leave A Legacy means that Disney was able to sell a poo poo-ton of granite to a casino or something.

this is why we cheer the epic universe announcement. surely the construction of epic universe will change disney’s post covid construction timeline from “never” to “actually on a schedule”

How do the virtual lines work at Universal? Is it like (Disneyland) Rise where you have to be there at rope drop or no dice? Or is it more like fast pass?

They do split up drops throughout the day. One first thing when the park gets ready to open and then throughout the day at certain intervals (which I don't know for sure. Usually around 1-2pm at least)

The only ride that consistently uses it on a daily basis is Hagrids (and even then it sometimes doesn't)

Disney's released pics of the new updated Moana rooms at Poly. I think they look really cute. My only really fiddly complaint is that those new huge sinks take up so much room you lose a lot of counter space. Other than that, they look really fresh and fun. https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...t-disney-world/

Even though it looks tastefully done here, I'm not a fan of the continual shoving of IP everywhere they can. WDW used to be awesome because it was NOT actually packed to the brim with Disney IP.

we were somewhere around hesaim on the edge of the spinward marches when the drugs began to take hold.

Anyone heard if/when Disney will start selling annual passes for WDW? With all the vaccine info coming out the last few weeks, I'm cautiously optimistic about being vaccinated and able to go back to the parks by the end of August (assuming DeSantis doesn't somehow mess up vaccine rollout in Florida any more than he already has)

They're waiting for long-term vaccine efficacy and the such. I'd expect something late spring/early summer at the latest.

If numbers are down (less than 100 infections per week in the country) I'll probably be in MK on October 1st if I'm fully vaccinated (and I should be).

My wife and I were talking last night about when to go back since we'll be fully vaccinated by April... but we just can't justify the amount of money it costs to visit with the reduced park operations right now. Just doesn't seem worth it. We're waiting until things get back to pre-covid to go again. Not sure things will ever go back to pre-covid though to be honest. If demand stays high there's really no reason to extend park hours, or bring back AP's or offer any discounts. We've only been visiting for 6 years or so, and the cutbacks before covid were already noticable.

The park I was working at (another CA one) did a quick-hire thing last month and they called me a few days ago saying there's a tentative start date of March 27th. Even the guy calling me didn't sound so sure about it.

15% capacity and CA residents only. Only for counties that are in the red status. Most of socal is still in the purple, though.

by late april it might not be too big of a risk if the numbers currently posting are true to form and not just slow due to storms and whatnot. we've seen a hell of a drop (we're still losing high 3 figures in deaths daily) in new cases. if vaccine rollout continues like this, huge maybe.

Surprised it's October 1st. I'd heard the 8th to try to get people to stay longer.

https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...y-world-resort/

I mean, finally? I don't mind rolling through the parks with an Etsy Magic Band holster on my Apple watch, but it's all RFID chips anyway so about time they just cut out the middleman and just let you use your phone/watch. Magic Band sales gonna take a huge hit though.

quote:

The MagicBand, the colorful wristband guests wear at Walt Disney World Resort, makes each visit even simpler and more seamless. We’ve continued to invent and innovate, and soon, we’ll be debuting a new option: Disney MagicMobile service!

Launching in phases starting later this year, Disney MagicMobile service is a convenient and contactless way to access MagicBand features like theme park entry through the power of your iPhone, Apple Watch or other smart device. Guests will be able to create a Disney MagicMobile pass through the My Disney Experience app and add it to their smart device’s digital wallet. It works like magic – most features will be available by just holding up your smart device near an access point, just like you do with a MagicBand. Disney MagicMobile service and its features will roll out first on Apple devices.

Guests may choose to use Disney MagicMobile service or a MagicBand – pick whichever option works best for you during your visit. You can even use both and alternate between the two for added flexibility. We’ll also soon be introducing more MagicBands in trendy new colors and fun designs featuring favorite Disney characters and stories.

Our existing digital room key feature will continue to be available specifically within the My Disney Experience app, which helps guests expedite their arrival by using online check-in service, going directly to their Disney Resort hotel room and using their phone to unlock their door. Disney Resort hotel guests may also still pick up a Key to the World card at their convenience by visiting the front desk.

Not looking forward to people fumbling for their phones in the Fastpass line though.

But I can see my spouse using this a lot.

As an Apple Watch owner I can't wait. Having a watch and Magic Band on is annoying. Plus it means I always have my pass. Too many times I've started heading to the park before realizing I left my band at home.

That said I did just buy a new band. It's a "Rivers of Light" design. Orange with animals on it. Very cool.

How are you all not using your phones all the time at disney? Between mobile ordering and lining up fastpasses I feel like I am on the phone way more than I'd like. It's to the point where I bring an extra battery along for longer days.

I do like that the apple watch can hold the ticket now. Been thinking that would be nice for a few years now.

That hit is offset by the savings in not sending complimentary magicbands to everyone who books a trip. Besides, I'm not sure it totally cannibalizes the market. The ones they sell have always been a collector/upcharge thing. Will they still keep them going five years from now? Dunno, they've already made the touchpoints way worse looking for the special effects bands so it doesn't seem like something they especially care about.

Same. Between MDE, PlayDisney, and checking weather (and occasionally pokemon go in the longer lines) our phones are pretty much running nonstop.

Probably the same people who use the cards for fastpasses. It's worth paying 15 bucks for a Magic Band in order for the people in line behind you to not hate you, folks.

For what its worth, it looks like it'll use the digital wallet in your phone rather than being a thing that's in the app. So that'll actually be reasonably convenient.

Yeah Disney already tracks where you are at all times if you're on property via RFID. That's how you get the customized screens with your name and hometown on them on Star Tours, Rock N Roller Coaster, Mission Space, etc.
