It’s not that hard to do cfd you just import the model to the programs and press the mesh buttons.... the problem is that model is so complicated geometry wise you probably need an extremely pricey licensed version to run it in any reasonable timeframe and even then it will probably still crash the program

I figured out how to do it in Fusion360, but because I have the "Education license" I have to push the computations _-=*tO tHe ClOuD*=-_ which means I have to buy a bunch of Autodesk points or some poo poo, and I honestly can't be hosed to dump money into something as stupid as this.

I might see if I can get a hold of Solidworks or something and try it with that.

I assume it's the same files that float around the internet/you can download on reddit. They are pretty high detail, but you will have to put in quite some time to use them for CFD, as they only contain the actual shape of the car. No information of what the parts are made of, how they flex, what their texture in regard to air is (I lack the english word for that currently) etc.

It reminds me of the time Marrussia was auctioned off, and people got hold of the 1/4th scale car for the next year and computer data, and it turned out that - who would have though - there's a lot more to it than just having a 3D model. That's why I still laugh at the Racing Point/Aston Martin "we copied it from images"-stuff. Even if you put half a dozen of 3D scanners in the pit lane, all you get is the outer model, and maybe a glimpse of the diffusor and stuff. It doesn't work that way.

ansys will def crash with that model, it especially hates triangular meshes. probably will take 12 hours of remeshing to find a mesh that fluent likes, not including the likely 3-12 hour run times to get that model to run more than a second of sim time
