Her design in that is pretty much the same as the fanart.

The outrage is very dumb, but it's not fake. They are actually mad that their bunny lady is getting less sexy, because it means she isn't designed specifically for their eyes.

At some point we seem to have lost the thread rule/recommendation saying don't post "I can't wait to see the cartoons about X". I think it would be good to have that back, because without it it's too easy for this thread to turn into the "a thing happened" discussion thread.

Though to immediately undermine my own point: Does anyone have any good sources for Italian political cartoons? I'm curious to see their takes on the Italy/Australia vaccine kerfuffle, or perhaps just to see whether they think it's worth mentioning at all.

If you want Garrison to draw Lola Bunny you're going to have to wait for him to catch up to the latest news. He's still on Dr Seuss.

quote:

THE WOKE MOB CANCELS DR. SEUSS

The effort on the ‘woke’ left to ban Dr. Seuss would be ridiculous if it weren’t for the possibility that they could be successful.

The leftists’ ‘cancel culture’ is branding Dr. Seuss as racist, even though he was a liberal who penned books design to end racism. So what’s this really about?

It’s about destroying American culture.

The Marxists want not only Seuss destroyed but also Shakespeare, classic movies, and even math. They especially hate Christians and the Bible. The deconstruction-minded left sees it as hate speech. Christians and patriots are seen as terrorists and they must be silenced and replaced with transexual celebrations. They want American culture destroyed so it can be ‘built back better.’ That means socialism.

Most children of all races grew up reading Dr. Seuss. He was inclusive. His illustrations didn’t portray race. The creatures weren’t even human most of the time. Instead, they they were creative, multi-colored creatures that appealed to everyone. I was very young when I read my first Dr. Seuss book. It was titled “Bartholomew and the Oobleck.” I can’t remember how old I was exactly, but it was the first book I read on my own and I was fascinated by it. I read more of his books after that and in retrospect I realize that Dr. Seuss opened the door to reading for many young children while helping to instill within them a love of books.

Now the left wants his books destroyed along with Mark Twain and ‘white’ western literature in general. Dr. Seuss was also an excellent editorial cartoonist. A case could be made for racism in some of his depictions of the Japanese in cartoons he drew during World War II, but he drew many more that spoke out against racism. I found myself cringing a bit over his promotion of war. He hated isolationists. He railed against the ‘America First’ mentality and naturally I disagreed with him on that.

Still, his political cartoons were first-rate. Let’s not let the Bolsheviks kill the ‘Cat In The Hat.’

Let's zoom in on that, shall we?

How about we compromise, Garrison? We'll only stop publishing the racist ones, and the rest of Seuss's works can go uncanceled. Sound good to you? A crushing defeat for Marxism!

A woke mob didn't make the decision, the people who control his estate did. I think what they did was the right move, but I didn't make the choice and in fact wasn't even aware of the issue until after the decision was made.

No one was trying to cancel Dr. Seuss, no one is trying to do that now, I hate the retroactive narrative they're pushing because it's blatantly untrue and makes no sense.

Perfectly on-brand for Garrison to depict Green Eggs and Ham as bad and gross when the whole point of the story was that they were actually good and the unnamed protagonist was just being stubborn and afraid to try new things. Once he actually tried it he realized it was good and he'd been a fool, and Sam-I-Am was only trying to help.
I know "you didn't understand the source material" is a common complaint in political cartoons but it's especially amusing given that the entire point is supposed to be in defense of Seuss and his works.

The Horton reference is very AGC. Horton was written as an apology for Seuss' earlier bigotry, particularly against the Japanese in WW2, and represents his sorrow over the Bomb and the treatment of the Japanese as an "inferior" people during the occupation.

So Garrison is saying we should listen to the WHO even though big loud ignorant morons are trying to rip them apart because of fear and bigotry.

Just out of curiosity, but could you take, say, apples or carrots and blend them to feed a baby instead of buying baby food? Honest question.

First-order answer: Yes.

Somewhat more detailed answer: There's a few things you should avoid (the big thing is salt, a few other things aren't okay for babies either) but if you take nutritious ingredients and prepare them in a reasonable manner, it's all good. Also you can stop blending everything earlier than you might think; there's a strategy called "baby-led weaning" where you basically just give them little bits of whatever as finger food and let them figure it out for themselves. Typically useful after about six months of age, at first as a supplement and then gradually taking over a larger part of their nutritional needs. (Even if they don't have teeth yet, those gums can mash up foodstuffs pretty good.)

Don't give them loving McDonald's crap.

Source: Have four kids born between 2008 and 2018, all of whom are alive and healthy. Never once bought ready-made baby food (we got like a couple of servings as free samples way back in 2008). We did pretty systematic baby-led weaning with the first one, where you introduce one thing at a time and let the kid get used to things in a controlled way; his younger siblings were a bit more proactive (i.e. they saw what the older kids were eating and demanded to have some of that, some of that, and some of that as well RIGHT NOW DAMMIT).
