Weird choice to start off the episode with a volvo commercial but if that's the cost to avoid Arrow-level production values it's totally worth it

This show is much better than I expected from another CW DC show.

Does anyone know if there are longer versions of this on the CW app? I was watching a reaction channel and their version had scenes from episode 2 that weren’t in my dvr recording or in the on demand versions of the episode. Specifically more party scenes and stuff about General Lane gathering Kryptonite and later telling Superman about it. Edit: installed the app, looks like they bill episode 2 as an extended cut. Cool I guess? Teek fucked around with this message at 05:09 on Mar 4, 2021 |

The only thing that took me out of the episode was alter Clark wearing the cheap black suit from a few years ago. I had noted in the pilot they went to the trouble of building that beautiful Fleischer suit for the flashback and then we never see the shoulder cape suit. I assume they used it because it was a brief scene in shadow and we won't see much of that Superman going forward.

Ohhh Jordan is named after Jor-El Why did I not even think of that lol This show does a lot of things I like so I hope it won't do the thing I don't like and make Sam Lane stupid or whatever. The 7734 thing seems to be a direct reference to his shenanigans in the New Krypton comics arc where he was basically a crazy evil person.

Hologram Jor El is kind of a dick. "Oh, your son just shot lasers out of his eyes ONE TIME, no big deal." My personal theory is he's actually Brainiac or the Eradicator but for now he's just a jerky grandpa.

Pffft, maybe for his size, I bet he could hardly deadlift a single truck Seriously though, if he had 1/100 of Superman's strength, as he suggested, that still probably puts him in like, top 5 strongest heroes in the world. Like we got, what Superman, Supergirl, Martian Manhunter, then.... Nate Heywood? lol

Maybe his powers aren't really showing themselves because he doesn't get a lot of sun/doesn't get out much and as soon as that changes he'll be more powerful.

Dramatic mid-season finale as Jordan has to choose between going to the beach and learning to fly or getting hardcore into the FGC and taking his Injustice skills to the next level.

Without doing even a moment's research, I'm just going to go ahead and assume that's only a thing because Marlon Brando counted his lines in the script and threw one of his famous hissy fits.

It makes sense if you think of the fortress of solitude as this magical cave of wonders. Out in the world, Superman has many fantastic powers but he's part of the human world and usually lives as a human. In his fortress he's got all these insane alien things and magical gewgaws and space robots and his dad is magically alive as a computer he can talk to because what does death matter when you're magic. It's like a representation of the fact that Superman is fantastical and impossible, and he has a small slice of the world that's just as fantastical and impossible as he is.

Elizabeth Tulloch does fierce very well. There's something about her face, she just looks like a ball breaker in a way Melissa Benoit doesn't. Also, Jonathan has inherited it. That's a bit of fine casting.

2nd episode was good. The twins have a believable relationship between each other, waiting to see Sam Lane's reaction on the passive aggressive scale once he finds out Jordan has quasi-Superman powers.

Yeah, that's right, I'm talking to the man who could split the moon in half if he wanted to. You're a bad father and husband!"
