They don't think wrestling will ever be good or popular again. I think part of it might be latent Vince mentality, where wrestling is deeply embarrassing and shameful for them to be following but they still want the legitimacy of it being mega-popular like it was during the Monday Night Wars. The clip watching is the equivalent of getting all your news from those twitter accounts that just repost extremely bad takes from pundits and no audience youtubers or watching just the Daily Show or Tucker Carlson. It's completely unreflective of the majority of what's around but the reaction is pre-packaged for you and it's more emotionally stimulating and fun than doing your own work.
